The real question is; how much are you willing to spend? The most beautiful books that I have ever seen are from Brahm's. They're out of my league at the moment, but I do hope to have one some day.
Have a look: http://brahmsbookworks.com/

A book of shadows is a personal thing. Buy on of the blank ones then your sister can add what she wants in there. If you want you can buy a second like Ann Moura's Grimore fo the Green Witch. It has a lo of really good information. Then you sister will have a place for her to look up things and depending on what she likes and doesn't like she can create her own Book of Shadows with the blank you gave her.

I've always loved the idea of making your own. Think of all the energy someone puts into it. It really depends on what kind of book you want. I've seen people use journals, 3-ring binders, regular large books that have blank pages, etc. Search on the net for book binding. There are several different ways to do it. A lot of sites show pictures of what the book can look like. You could make one with a leather cover, wood cover, etc. Personally, I started out using a 3-ring binder with tabbed dividers. It made it easier for me to locate things in it and to add to it. Plus if you mess up on a page you can start over again. With a premade book you'd have to white it out or tear it out. Also, using it made it easier for me to organize all of the information I wanted to keep in my BOS. It's really up to you though. But trust me, after several years go by it won't look brand new anymore no matter what you use, lol.

i can see the Nostaliga of the old looking book, but i would suggest that you buy a new book. (there are some really nice wood and leatherbound ones out there.) and then use it. with everyday use it will quickly begin to look very old. and every tear and scratch on it will have a story behind it. it will then have true character, and become a reflection of you.
i have several books, ( i use a regular leather bound journal) some of them look like they must be several hundred years old.
spilled candle wax, and slightly burnt pages the hole that a careless student made when he dropped his Athme, they all tell a story, and the book if loved that much more for it.

I don't know about finding "old" looking books of shadows, but New Moon Occult Shop has some gorgeous BOSes. To get them to look really old, you'd probably have to beat them up, however they are very serious and hefty.
The ones I've linked to turn out to be the same style as the Brahms BOSes.

You can always take old leather, get it a little wet and pound it till it wrinkles a bit then let it dry. It makes the leather worn. You can put it over thin wood and then make your binding. You can buy paper that looks old, make your own (this is a real pain in the butt to do) or simply take a stack of paper you like and lightly burn the edges. Just leave it sit in a room for a couple of weeks and don't dust it. ^_^

I know there are leather bound, old STYLE ones out there, but the books themselves are not that old. Just made to look that way.
