I noticed that a lot of people dislike durian. It's a famous fruit in Malaysia - Asia, even called the 'king fruit'. For me it tastes delicious, but why... disgusting(?)

Well, you those out there who never heard of 'durian' fruit and want to find out how it's look like and tastes(maybe at any costs), just hurry up, before this question being resolved, or else you will lose the 10 points credit!

I think people might be responding more to the smell than the actual flavor.
Novelist Anthony Burgess once famously said that dining on durian is like eating vanilla custard in a latrine.

Durian is an acquired taste for many people who aren't exposed to it growing up. The smell is strong and pungent and like nothing else. It also has a texture that is different from any other fruit. It is like eating mushy custard onions and garlic, and will stick on your clothes and breath for a long time after eating.
I have never seen durian in the United States(or smelled it nearby) Its just one of those foods that is really cultural and regional and to me, shocking if you have never been exposed to it before. Definitely not for the faint of heart....

Durian tastes delicious but for some people, they smell stink or disgusting, b/c of it's strong smell. But for some who like it, they would like its strong smell, to me, it smells so good, so delicious, and I am drooling while typing these. To you, who have never tried this fruit, you should try one and see if you like or dislike it .
and down here is a durian picture

Well some people who are not use to some weird smells of exotic fruit don't like durian. Its because they have different taste buds and are more sustained to eating stuff that is like burgers, chips, noodles, apples, peaches, porridge, cookies, rice, burritos, tacos, chicken, pork, beef, tomatoes and stuff like that.
-Just ask one of your friends if they like durian.
Much Love
