Dear Anna b.:
That particular one of the 10 commandments was referring to killing human beings. That is a separate issue totally from today's sensitivity about the care and well-being of animals. My mother used to tell me, and this is derived from "Satan" tempting Christ in his 40 days in the wilderness, that "even Satan can quote Scripture for his own purpose." PLEASE do not ever fall into the trap of ANYONE quoting Scripture to prove a purpose.
That is the easiest thing for someone to do and truly does not deserve a response because they usually begin from a false premise. Your responsibility as a Christian is "to act justly, walk humbly, and to love God." (This probably is badly paraphrased and I need to check it from one of the prophets in the Old Testament.)

First off, that is "thou shalt not murder" which is much more narrowly defined and refers only to human beings and allows for self defense and accidents. Some of the translations and language dictionaries used are incredibly sloppy and have been altered by religious politics. However, there are vegetarian Christians (7th Day Adventists) who draw on other passages in the bible for their reason for being vegetarian while ignoring the animal sacrifices and eating of same. Like so many things, there really isn't one right answer in the bible for this topic. Draw on the wisdom there as best as you can and ignore what appears to be superstitious or simply reflecting an earlier more brutal tribal time.

I do not know how seriously are you asking for help. You even have ot capitalize on one of the commandments with your rant. Let me say this anyhow. Your teeth (human teeth) are designed universally without fangs. Animals that eats fruits, vegetables and leaves also have the same set of teeth as humans like the cows, goats, sheep giraffe and horses..
Biologically however, there are some people you can observe that somehow there is a set on the sides of our teeth we call fang also but not as prominent as the other animals of prey like the lions, hyenas, dogs, cats, tigers and snakes. These are made for ripping off flesh and crashing bones. Human teeth and fangs have use for eating soft and slightly hard meat of fish and vegetables. There are animals in the Bible that are permitted to be eaten like the sheep, ram or goat as they are also popular figure for offerings. Eating those meat oftentimes are held during festivities or sacrificial and ritual offerings, The daily staples are rice, bread fish, vegetables and fruits. There is a part in the Old Testament where it is said you can be held accountable for the lives of animals you kill. Maybe it is being addressed as to killing game animals for trophy. As a food consumption as long as it is regarded purely as a nutritional way of staying healthy and not for fun and amusements.
Maybe it is much better to talk about the animals meat that may put one's health in risks rather than say it is against the law of God. Better still if you can compound that God did not say those commandments for his wrath against killing animals but rather the accountability in about how it might affect one's health.

Well, you must know what a retard is, how does it feel to be one? Ex 20:13, the word kill was translated wrong, the original Hebrew word for it is Murder, Thou shalt not do murder. And besides, you PETA pervert, the commandments of God are for HUMANS, not animals. You are NOT a follower of Christ, you are only a pretender. So, go and peddle your filth elsewhere.

The commandment "thou shalt not kill" refers to committing murder. It probably read "thou shalt not kill each other" when it was first written, but after being translated many times it kinda lost some of that original meaning. It's perfectly okay to kill & eat food animals such as cattle, chickens, etc.

You should really be questioning your status as a Christian if you can't ask a simple question with out shouting out obscenities.

"Thou shall not murder" is interpreted by most to mean homicide, and not the slaughter of animals for food. You do realise that eating meat was mentioned in the Bible and sometimes even encouraged. After the flood, God told Noah that all living things are food for him. (Genesis 9:3)

First she is not quoting scripture correctly:
it says " Thou shall not murder"

You have the ability to study and understand scripture for yourself, I teach a class of teens and they are able to reason through the scriptures with me.

There will ALWAYS be people who want to take one scripture out of context and use it in an argument to call Christians retards or any number of names.

Study the Word, hide it in your heart, know that some people who argue against the Word are just looking for a fight. Those who fight against the bible and it's absolute truth, do not want the Light of truth in their lives.

Pray for your friend. Don't let her bully you around. Challenge her to study the bible with you. If you don't have a response just don't say anything, or say that you will pray for her!
Feel free to email me if you have questions about God, Jesus or bible study

I am a Christian teen girl too. When it says though shalt not kill it means murder. If your freind really read the bible she would know that in the Old Testament there are stories about people giving offering of animals and people eating meat.

Honestly, as a non-Christian I move into instantaneous "protective mode" while any one ways me looking to promote their faith. As has already been mentioned, nobody in North America is NOT mindful of Christianity. There are church buildings in each town and the city; if we desire to grasp extra, there is not any scarcity of locations to move. The first-class approach to percentage the affection of Jesus with us is to be loving and type your self. If I am your neighbor, present to mow my garden or shovel my stroll while I am unwell. Watch my youngsters for an hour in order that I can take a far-wanted nap. Share quality phrases over the again backyard fence, or over a cup of espresso to your kitchen. Be a compassionate, upstanding, and ethical individual, and be scrupulous to your phrases and movements. The advantages that the affection of your God conveys might be self-obtrusive, and that, greater than some thing else, will speak some great benefits of your religion.
