im doing a speech about joining x-country/benefits of it
what kind of visual aid would i want?

Well if you want people to join, i say you talk about the palces you run and what not. But if you want to inspire people tell them the story of Pre. I think that would be a great cross country speech.

Get into the cameradrie of running cross-country. How everyone helps out the other and stuff. Visuals I found that help are of fast animals in pack like gazelles but without a cheetah hunting them, or cheetahs running. If you get really lucky any visual showing a human morphed into a cheetah.
The story of Steve Prefontain is always good and for women Joan Benoit Samuelson.
Talk about mental health benefits as well as physical benefits. Running lifts anxiety and depression and steps up metabolism to help lose weight. Running will help tone everything nicely too.
Mostly mention the freedom and stuff like that

A picture of a group of runners running through the woods in the early morning with a little bit of fog or mist in the air.
For the speech emphasize the physical benefits, the team camaraderie that develops over the course of a season. Anyone can be a successful runner with proper training. Most high schools don't cut anyone from the team, if you tryout you're in.

Nike use to have and ad campaign that said "When there is no finish line" and it had about ten different posters all were cool.
I use to do an end of year slide tape with my teams. Pictures of them running and having fun. Cindy Lauper time after time is a good back drop to the pics.
