It's going to take you at least three days to drive to Honduras, and five days is more realistic. Make sure the car is in good shape, has good tires and a recent checkup. You'll probably want air conditioning, so be sure to test that.

Other than that, stay alert, minimize time on a cell phone (because that distracts you), take as few valuables as possible and don't pick up hitchhikers. And have fun!
