I don't know anything about reading notes or anything like that and I don't want to do any ibitha mixes or anything like that, I want to do melodys with beats with lots of different kinds of instraments, If I could try one before buying it that would be great and it would need to be affordable.

You probably would have to go with a simpler interface given your lack of experience with music- Id say buy a MIDI interface for like 60 bucks and use Garageband. you have to have a mac though.

http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/products/default.asp

Check out the site above...try 'acid studio' (less than $100 and relatively easy to learn & fun)...there are more advanced stuff on that site too.The site/products shouldn't overwhlem you, but there is alot of info on each product.
With 'acid' all you need is your pc, speakers, and cdrw (if ya want to burn)...they have a bunch of samples that you can use to make your own stuff...and when you decide to by your own elctronic instruments you can make music with the same software...and/or stick in some cd's of your own and cut out certain parts of a song on any cd and just add it to an existing project you've been working on...it's pretty endless for a beginner at first.I'll give you a several of months before you even think about upgrading or buying an intermediate/advanced software!

To record music, I use cakewalk home studio 2002.
To do drum beats and some cool synth sounds (as well as guitar, piano, and some other stuff), I use Fruity Loops 7.
To hear how it makes my music sound, you can hear some of the stuff I've made at www.purevolume.com/karpenterskids

That should help you decide if those programs are good enough for you.

Try Cubase, Reason, Sonic Foundry or Fruity Loops. You may need a MIDI controller / Keyboard to controll the sounds though.

Go to Guitar Center or Sam Ash to check it out before you buy it. Then, once you make up your mind, search online for the best prices.
Good luck fellow musical soul :)-

If you want to have any real success at creating melodies or getting beats to fit with your music, you should learn to play an instrument. Its not as hard as it looks.
