ok, now hear me out. i had HORRIBLE acne for years. pimples on top of pimples, really gross & i was like "proactive costs too much, blah blah blah". i finally broke down & got it(it's $40 & they send mine every 2 months). $20 a month is not too much for clear skin(that's what you spend anyway!). it does work & you can call the 1800 number(no, you don't have to get it over the internet) & ask them to send it whenever you want with whatever products you need the most. it works just as well as what the dermatologist used to give me

I Know what your going through. I have mild acne and im using proactiv which isnt really doing much for me. But you need to know its not your fault. Acne isnt caused through what you eat, your diet rarely effects your skin. Acne is due to the hormones in your body. People get acne because of something to do with your hormones so basically, some people get bad acne some people get mild acne and some people dont get it at all. But you really do need to see a speicalist even though the money is a worry because it does make you feel like you want to hide it.
Do see a specialist and hopefully they will have an answer for you.

I suffer from excessive breakputs around my chin in the winter because of the weather change and how my skin is affected by sweaters. Proactiv does work for me generally, but at this time of year, I can't do anything about it. You need to visit a dermatologist if it worsens, and change your diet. Drink more water and eat less sugar and grease, and milk can also cause acne. So many options, so many pores, you know?

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action.
Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past!
Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

well i have a friend wh0 used proactive but and her face cleard up but when she stoped using it she broke ot even worse...best thing to do is watch your food like no chips & drink l0ts 0f water als0 u should try lem0n honey & oatmeal u just mix it all together it takes away blemishes & acne.....make sure its chunky and leave it 0n ur face untill it drys then wash it off.als0 try buying a face wash like neutrogena they have little notes on the front for your right type because some people have more oily skin or some have dryer and you have to buy the best type for your skin.and if you are a girl make sure to wash your make up off at night time...or when you do excersise anything that makes your face sweat basically.als0 d0nt touch your face!!!!even if you think your hands are clean because you washed them there NOT!!youll just make it worse by poking them & rubbing dirty oil on your faceim sorry your feeling depressd about this & umm Yea you should really try the oatmeal mask.hope it clears up!!keep ur head up wer all beutifull with or without acne!!SMILE!

i feel your pain..i too struggled with acne when i was younger...i had it really bad when i was 15 all the way up to 19! it made me depressed and anxious...i tried everything..you name it i did it...eventually i was lucky and it cleared up on its own...the thing is, it can be caused by many different things like hormones. if you see your doctor they will tell you that acutane is a drug that all but guarantees you to be cured! it has an 80% cure rate on your first trial, and if it does not work your second trial on this pill will do it for sure. it works by completely shutting down the skins ability to secrete oil (i believe i have that right) anyhow your skin does go through some drying stages and redness but once you get through it the results are nothing short of a miracle. downs sides to this is that it can have severe side effects and may cost a little much..also you have to get your blood work down every now and then to monitor the drugs effect on organs like your liver. i was never brave enough to try the acutane but i had a friend who was and i sware to you i could not believe how it changed his life.
good luck and i pray that it will go away soon.
some cheap ways to try and clear up your skin could include the following:
-take time and find a sauna that you can use
-drink lots of water
-try not too touch your face with your hands alot
ps. no toothpaste!!!!! thats a really bad idea!!!

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html

Try going to the doctors office. I did that and my acne is slowly but surely clearing up. He/she may prescribe good meds like Vitamin A derivitives or tetrocyline like he did mine. It really helps getting medical help, you may just have stubborn acne or something more serious. Talk to your doctor or a meducal professional.

Visit a dermatologist - most incidents that are that stubborn need perscription medicine rather than a face wash.
