.homosexual unions are not wrong primarily because of their disproportionately high incidence of promiscuity (especially among males) and breakups (especially among females). They are wrong because “gay marriage” is a contradiction in terms. As with consensual adult incest and polyamory, considerations of commitment and fidelity factor only after certain structural prerequisites are met...By definition homosexual desire is sexual narcissism or sexual self-deception. There is either (1) a conscious recognition that one desires in another what one already is and has as a sexual being (anatomy, physiology, sex-based traits) or (2) a self-delusion of sorts in which the sexual same is perceived as some kind of sexual other. ..one ancient text.., “seeing themselves in one another they were ashamed neither of what they were doing nor of what they were having done to them” (Pseudo-Lucian, Affairs of the Heart 20). The modern word “homosexual”—from the Greek homoios, “like” or “same”—undersco

Folks who claim to be Christians and are not against "gay marriage", I am interested in your feedback. How well informed are you on this issue and how it affects you both as a Christian, a parent, a tax-payer, a citizen, etc.?

I am not against anybody, including gay people. The have the right to live their lives in peace. It is not my job as a Christian to stop people from living in sin, or try to change their habits. It is my responsibility to tell them about Jesus Christ, and what He did for them. They are sinners no better or worse then the rest of us. It is up to the Holy Spirit to bring about a change. My prayer is that gay people will understand that the good news is for them too. I have been a Christian most of my life.

Not again.

Look, marriage is not just a religious thing, it's a secular thing too. And if you dare tell me that because I didn't get married by a bloody Christian Minister that I'm not really married, I'm going to blow up.

Its a WORD. Thats it, that's all and bloody Christians don't have the monopoly on words. But, according to law, those that are married have legal rights that others don't.

Everyone should be treated the same, not some favored over others because of some idiotic prejudiced religion.

Honestly, its getting to be quite enough. Separate (Civil Unions and Marriage) but equal hasn't worked in the past and it won't work today. It's time for people to stop being so damned prejudiced and grow up.

Trying to condemn and reject homosexuals is a selective use of the Bible against gays and lesbians. Nobody today tries to keep the laws in Leviticus. Look at Leviticus 11:1-12, where all unclean animals are forbidden as food, including rabbits, pigs, and shellfish, such as oysters, shrimp, lobsters, crabs, clams, and others that are called an "abomination." Leviticus 20:25 demands that "you are to make a distinction between the clean and unclean animal and between the unclean and clean bird; and you shall not make yourself an abomination by animal or by bird or by anything that creeps on the ground, which I have separated for you as unclean." You can eat some insects like locusts (grasshoppers), but not others.

Leviticus 12:1-8 declares that a woman is unclean for 33 days after giving birth to a boy and for 66 days after giving birth to a girl and goes on to demand that certain animals must be offered as a burnt offering and a sin offering for cleansing. Nobody today who claims to be a Christian tries to keep these laws, and few people even know about them! Why do you think that most people don't know about them?

I would say it is an oxymoron. Part of the Christian beliefs is that they have one "true" god. Polytheism, the practice of having many gods, obviously contradicts this. You were wise to plan around the moron comments. I wouldn't have thought of that.

The vast majority of what we call "love", between any two people, is chemicals. I say this from the perspective of not only one who has studied a bit of this, but I am also madly in love and have been for two years. Anyone who has been in love knows that the body reacts greatly when in love, and not just sexually. Everything your source says about gays could easily be applied to any romantic relationship.

Thanks for that load of BS.

My partner and I have been together 32 years. Our relationship has the same ups and downs as any heterosexual couple. We are not forced to stay together over legal or financial ties. We are together out of commitment to each other. We would like to have our partnership legally recognized for our own protection. More legal challenges arise with age.

Just like an straight atheist couple, we don't really give a damn if people like you approve or not. Just like you don't care if I approve of your marrige.

In other words, you're a complete jerk who is far too concerned with something that is none of your gawddammed business.

However you try to hide it in clever-sounding language, it still boils down to this: you just don't like the idea of two men or two women together. As a heterosexual, the idea doesn't appeal to me either, but I recognize that homosexuals are people, too. They have dreams of falling in love and building a lasting relationship, just like the rest of us. Why should they be denied this just because the partner they seek is of the same sex? "It's ookie" isn't a good reason.

Who cares what any religion thinks? Marriage is a civil right because the 1047 rights come from the Government, not your bible. And since we have a separation of church and state the government should not bring religious biases into the civil rights debate. It shouldn't be a debate to begin with.
