We have nerves on our skin. Two actually. One for pressure and one for pain. The ones for pressure, if touched lightly, cause the brain to make our skin itch. Almost, to remove that pressure. Also, if your skin is infected, under the skin could itch. That is when you scratch and scratch and it never seems to go away! That's the worst!

It's from your skin being dried-out.
Put some lotion on it and it won't iche as much.
You can also take some Benedryl.
