On the Spanish pages of answers we have wonder what estrangers think about Spanish sounds, if are they difficult to say and what do they think about the grammar, but we arrive to the idea that we have to ask to non Spanish-speakers

Phonetics is easy...it's a very phonetic language...it's grammar and verbs that make it "hellishly hard",it's not my mother tongue, but i do like it !!

My first language is English, but I've started learning Spanish.
- The grammar much easier than in English &
- There aren't as many strange phonetic tricks: most words are pronounced the same way that they are spelt.

Especially compared to African and Asian languages, I find Spanish very easy to pronounce as most of the individual sounds are the same (or similar) to English.

I hope that answers your question :-)

Speaking as a Brit living in Spain. Theoretically, Spanish should be one of the easiest languages for me to learn; for one thing there are over 6000 words in Spanish that are similar to English.

The main problem is the way people speak; especially down in Andalucia. Many words are chopped off and the S is often rarely used. It makes it very difficult to understand what people are saying.

I'm not complaining, after all some of the accents of Englishmen are pretty difficult to fathom out even for Englishmen

They're not difficult for me to say, but I pick up languages easily. This is my 5th year studying Spanish (it's my major), my first year studying Italian (double major), and Chinese is next on the list (certificate in specilization). I'm also thinking of learning Cherokee, and maybe Russian or German. I love languages!

I like Spanish grammar! And I hate English grammar, lol. Spanish flows better and sounds better, and is more consistent with pronunciations and accents and stuff. I love it! :)
