Neosporin or Polysporin(if you have allergic reactions to Neosporin). If you have stitches you want to keep it moist. Wash it twice a day with a gentle soap and use vaseline to keep it moist. You don't want it to scab up if you have stitches.

Scarring will be worse if your skin is not adequately moisturized during the time of wound contraction and remodeling which occurs from about one week after the wound happened to about 3-6 months post injury. Keep the skin softened with vitamin E lotion or cocoa butter to prevent this from happening.
Also, if expose a healing scar to excessive sunlight, such as with tanning/sunbathing, the scar will become darker and redder. This color change will be permanent and will not fade like normal skin does. Therefore, you should use a high SPF sunblock on all sun-exposed scars.

I have always used salty clean water. Half a teaspoon salt in a small 50 mg cup. Use a piece of sterile or clean cotton.
