Because the sun has gravity. And the bigger something gets, the more gravity it has. So, yes, it's the mass that attracts planets to the sun. it's called science. You might like to look into it sometime.

Perhaps it's charisma?

Actually, mass distorts space, creating gravity wells, which other objects fall into. The greater the mass, the greater the well, the higher the attraction.
This is a simplified version of course.

Repeated experiments with mass and gravity that consistently produce the same results; same deal with orbits. Thus far we've found no evidence that the laws of physics function differently anywhere in the universe than they do here on Earth--they seem to hold up everywhere. Of course, if that gets disproven, then it gets disproven--it just hasn't up until now.

Because only things with mass exert gravity.

Do you have a better hypothesis?

Actually, if you do, just forward it to Stephen Hawkings.I am sure his nobel prize winning work on gravity could do with your genius contribution.

Well it’s a theory (some call if fact). Cutting edge quantum physics (also theory but far more exiting) is taking what we thought we knew apart.
