11:5. But every woman praying or prophesying with her head not covered disgraceth her head: for it is all one as if she were shaven.
Omnis autem mulier orans aut prophetans non velato capite deturpat caput suum unum est enim atque si decalvetur

11:6. For if a woman be not covered, let her be shorn. But if it be a shame to a woman to be shorn or made bald, let her cover her head.
Nam si non velatur mulier et tondeatur si vero turpe est mulieri tonderi aut decalvari velet caput suum

So why don't Christian women cover their hair while praying?

In the United States up until a very few years ago most women did cover the heads in public places, church included, and men uncovered theirs indoors, church included. Most persons wore hats when out of doors. Hats and head coverings of all sorts went out of fashion and fewer folks used them. Catholics persisted in requiring a head covering for women and even in some cases providing a common supply of minimally acceptable items at the door for the use of the faithful forgetful or the non catholic visitors who were unaware of the requirement. Some Catholic woman still continue the practice out of habit, antique piety, or cultural conformity. Habited orders of Catholic nuns continue the practice. One still sees alot of millinery in African American Protestant churches as well. So to sum it up, Some Christian woman have in the past and now still continue to wear head coverings at worship, some have shaved heads. The question is erroneous

Some women do cover their hair when praying

Its not like its a sin if we don't.... I believe this letter was written to the early church, cause some people found it distracting. But its not a biggie.

Remember one is NOT justified by works... but by faith. Whats the point of covering ones hair on the outside... while indulging in sinful behaviours on the inside?

AND I don't think its sexist! ( why are guys the ones who have a problem with this? I'm a girl and I'm not complaining....)

Besides It is the same thing as Guys having to take off their hats in church or when praying.

Some do - some sects of Christianity have the women wearing headdresses/scarves/hats.

Many older Catholic women still cover their heads, the Amish do, the Mennonites, The Bretheren, Jehovah's Witness, and a few more I'm surely forgetting.

A long time ago, all the women in my church covered their heads with a hat or a scarf. Now times have changed and very few women do it. It must be the new fashion.

because of the fact when God wrote the original laws and rules He told us He will be giving us a new covenant through the Messiah. And the bible says only a million times that Salvation through Christ is the only way....The only way to the Father is through the Son. Do you really think covering our heads will save us? Yeah I can see it on judgement day " Oh ok you accepted Christ as your Savior, but you did not cover your head while praying, eternal damnation"

Read to verse 16
16 If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.

It is not a salvation issue, it was a custom of the early church that's all.

Because women do not know their position inChrist. Beecause people misunderstand the WORD of GOD they call it sexist or outdated but the WORD is the same yesterday today and forever.

In ,my church women wear headcovering and do not feel mistreated or following traditions or rules because the spirit of GOD gave them understanding of scripture and grace.

"The body profiteth nothing". God is interested in our spirit, not our bodies. Jesus prayed while hanging naked on the Cross. Do you think His prayers went unheard because of that?

Besides, Christians don't believe in the Quran. Quoting that will get you exactly nowhere with us.

Most people don't follow the ludicrous amounts of sexist material in the bible. The organized churches tend not to preach it, because they know if they did, they'd lose vast amounts of followers.
