it depends on a few things.
1. Location, location, location
2. years of service. As you put more years in, the more you get payed.
3. Rank. It's obvious that lieutenants are going to get payed more than rookies.
4. Agency. Small town cops don't get much, but big departments (state police) get more money.
5.How busy a department gets with it's location
6. Number of officers needed per department

and things like that.

Not enough, to be honest. We start out at 48k for the lowest paid constable, and can advance all the way to 70k within 6 years or so. That is just for regular street constables, excluding the much better paid ranks and specialized parts of the service.

STOP CORRUPTION NOW, you want to call me a clown thinking that I don't know what I'm being paid?

Yes, it is in Canada. We enjoy a very high quality of life, and our dollar is worth almost the same as yours. Counting inflation and factoring in other costs, it actually costs me less money to live here and make the wage that I do, than it does in many other parts of the world.

It depends on where you live and the size of the department. Here in Montgomery, AL you start at around $30K/year with no college incentives etc. Right up the road a bit (@ 60 miles or so)you start in the $40's and more with college/passing pt etc. I know of some smaller agencies who only pay about $8 per hour! Of course, most can't make it on their salaries alone so we work tons of overtime and side jobs.

There is not a nation wide salary for police officers; it depends on the place they work. Here in Tampa, Fl a TPD officer starts out at about 43,000 a year. In Ft. Lauderdale officers make about 65,000 a year, in New York I think they start out at about 85,000 a year, where as in LA they start out at 50,000 a year. In a small town they may make 28,000 a year.

they cost us a lot more than they get paid for sure. D.C. is paying out well over 1 million dollars every month to cover the bonds they had to float over cops shooting unarmed citizens. Then every truck you see pulled over at a weigh station is costing you about 70 bucks an hour. Have not even gotten to all the fines that they had out that are passed on to the consumer. Hell the guy that got the ticket doesn't have a printing press and the money has to come from someplace. Yeah you pay for it.

On average federal law enforcement starts at $37,000, state law enforcement starts at $31,000, and local law enforcement starts at $26,000. All this is subject to changes depending on locality pay and the size of the department you work for.

I dissagree they get to abuse the law and play above it. Therefore that counter balances the pay.

I don't feel sorry for some guy who truns around and resells drugs back the dealers or sits there and beats some guy and even though he is on camra he gets away with it. If cops would like to get my repect then they need to start turning in their corupt BUDDIES.

I do know of some good cops that are great and honest people. Here where I live 70% have and are abusing the law.
