First and foremost like everyone else mentioned, get a license. I have a daycare in my home and have had for about 10 years. It is an absolute joy for me to take care of children, especially in my own home, but there is a ton of negatives as well. It is a large inconvenience to go about doing. I live in the state of Pennsylvania. For me, I did have to get CPR certified, which was reasonably and for me I just had to update mine. I was made to fence my yard in. I had to get rid of my dog that I'd had for years.

Now that I'm licensed and running, it is still a pain. As far as actually getting children in your care, it was easy for me. I never did advertise. Not even a small bit. All my children come in by word of mouth from overly satisfied parents. I have a little girl here that just turned 10 years old and has been here since she was just 2 monsth old. She was my very first child and I couldn't possibly love her more. She is just like one of my own children, just as each of the children here are.

As for the inconvenience that I go through now. The state takes quite a chunk out of my pay each week in taxes and such. To me a very unreasonable amount. The last I actually figured it was a few months ago and it was 42% a week. There is also both planned and random chekin in's by state officials to make sure everything is up to par. I have to keep track of every penny I spend on anything that goes to the children. I have a second bathroom in my downstairs off the playroom and I was told I needed to keep track of the amount of toilet paper and soap the children use each month. Also another big thing is cooking meals. Children who come 7 or before must be served breakfast. And then all are served lunch. They aren't allowed to bring their own lunches because that is my responsibility to provide lunch. It is very difficult to make lunch for 8-10 children that everyone likes. Kids are picky.

Sorry for all the rambling but I really hope I was a help.

first you need to get a licenses and second if you plan on letting the kids out into the back Yard then yes it has to be fenced in. getting children, advertise near schools and grocery stores places everyone goes , places you'll find parents at. also if your legal as in you went and got a license you can have the county put you on the list of people they give out . i work in a daycare that is run out of a home. i used to come to this daycare and now i work at it. so I'm giving you a warning: it will destroy your house most likely. no furniture is safe. move all new or antique furniture out of the rooms you will allow the children in and put in old furniture because the children will jump on it no matter how many times you tell them not to. good luck ! and i mean that. :) ~*~Blessed Be~*~

First.. get a license. They will tell you exactly how much space you need. I don't think you have to have a fenced yard but that may be a big deal to some parents.

You could get customers by advertising on craigslist or your local paper.

You have to be registed, trained and licensed by your local state govenment in order to open a day care.

You'll pay a registration fee, take classes, be inspected by the state, and given the okay to start up.

Call your local state offices, they'll direct you and get you started.
And you can find books on how best to set up the house and yard and the ligistics.

get a degree and license
Then take CPR classes so u can charge more money
Get your house safe proof
buy toys and stuff for the kids to play with
make a schedule of when u have your daycare hours
make tons of flyers and put them by people's houses epically ones with little kids
soon u will get calls and have the parents come in your house and look at your degrees, traffic tickets, etc.
and if they like u you're good to go

Trust me my mom had to go through all this stuff

if you are male nobody will trust you so you can't.

if you are female you should have a degree in something related to that so they trust you. They won't pay enough to cover your student loans though.
