Christmas is a pagan holiday. The Christians stole it. Do your research. You'd be quite suprised where the idea of giving presents and Christmas trees came from.

Giving gifts really has nothing to do with Religious beliefs in Christmas. That is basically a pagan ritual. Right up there with Santa. Why should that affect any atheist?

Yep, Christmas has never been a religious holiday for me. Love the presents though, and making my kids (both atheists) happy!

Well the atheists should not. Christmas was originally Saturnalia, a pagan feast honoring Saturn. The Christians hijacked this and combined it with St. Nicholas day of Dec. 6th and formed modern Christ's Mass. So I see it that only the pagans and Christians have a right to celebrate it.

Hi guys I'm back kisses. Really why do you people worry about us celebrating Christmas we like to get presents too you know. It is an excellent time to gather with family and friends, eat good food and exchange presents. To me it has nothing to do with celebrating the birth of Christ. Those who do celebrate it as the Birth of Christ that's their thing. I find many Christians who don't go to Church on Christmas and don't do much to celebrate it as the birth of Christ either but that's their business too. xx

Christmas is like, so commercial. If a christian was really going to celebrate christmas, he shouldn't be running off to Walmart to buy cheap-*** gifts for friends...he should spend it in quiet reflection.

So, of course I, as an atheist, celebrate Christmas. I want to actually enjoy my life.

Yes. In fact, we celebrate the exact same way as a lot of my Christian friends and family. Christmas tree, dinner, gifts, stockings, etc.

You do know that many "Christmas" traditions have nothing to do with Christianity, right? Even the date was selected by the Romans to coincide with Winter Solistice festivals. http://www.factmonster.com/spot/christmas2.html

To me Christmas has nothing to do with religion. It is a day that I can celebrate and get gifts for my children and spend time with my family. To me it is just a day to celebrate with the special people in my life.

yes, but that is only because people have gotten to a point where Christmas has absolutely NOTHING to do with religion anymore, and is all about commercialism/big business. I celebrate it so that I do not have to explain to my family why I was too cheap to buy them presents. It isn't a matter of "disowning" my lack of faith. It is a matter of making everyone else more comfortable. So please do not think less of my beliefs just because I celebrate Xmas. I am not saying you would, but others might

I was raised christian and I still find the idea of having good times with family and friends, exchanging gifts, and eating turkey worth celebrating.
