Because the too of you are going through the awkward stage in your relationship. Does she really like me? Does he really like me? Find a topic that you both like and talk about this subject. Let him know that he doesn't have to impress you all of the time. Give him a chance to be himself. Let him be funny,goofy,happy in other words tell him to just be himself.

when a guy gets quiet when he is talking to you he gets quiet and if he looks at his feet he is shy and trying to gather the courage to ask you out.
MAKE THE FIRST MOVE a shy guy will take a very long time to do that.

He's shy, no doubt about it. You just have to keep the conversation going, and make it something he's interested in. So he can get over his shyness and begin to get comfortable with you.
