Use fake chips? just kidding. Chocolate will melt at a very low temp, you know that when you hold one in your hand and it melts, so you know that it's under 98.6 degrees that it started melting. Now if you retard that process by freezing your chips you might have a better chance of "Holding" their shape if that's what you mean by melting in the cookie. That's my take on the matter unless there's anything more to discuss, meetings adjourned

Choclate chip cookies bake with the chips coming out soft, not hard or melted. Just the way they're supposed to be. Yum!

Chocolate chips don't really melt. Not completely. Something about the shape or consistensy.

They are added to the dough, and actually do melt a bit during baking. But they are not in the oven long enough to melt completely.
