I would be insulted if my parents got me a babysitter when I was 11. At 11 you can be trusted not to get yourself killed or burn the house down.

It really depends on the child. By the time that I was 11 I spent every summer day at my house without a babysitting, along with my 8 year old sister. Like I said it just really depends on the child. An 11 year old is totally responsible enough to stay home alone as long as it isn't at night or anything, BUT if you have any reason to wonder if they would be okay, then don't.
I babysat OTHERS my share of times when I was 11-12ish.

I would say Yes!
I have 3 boys, 8, 11 and 14 and we still have a babysitter. My 14 year old is very immature and there is no way I would leave him in charge. 11 is still very young and it would be in your best interest to have someone watch him.
We either have a friend come over or hire a college aged babysitter.

no i does no longer. I somewhat have twins that are 13 and that i do not actually have them babysit my youthful son who's 7 yet. I do enable them to be abode on my own for short sessions yet no longer to babysit. they're boys it truly is a touch different even with the undeniable fact that I nevertheless would in no way have an 11 12 months old babysit....if something, an 11 12 months old needs a babysitter. the position I stay the regulation says you are able to't be abode on my own till age 12.

Depends on the kid and where you live. our state doesn't have an age...it leaves the law quite loose by saying that the child must be able and willing to care for self.
My eleven year old is quite mature and rule-bound, so I will leave him for half an hour to run to the grocer for an emergency item for dinner. He also knows that our neighbor two houses down is always home and is his 'safety net'. I wouldn't drive to the city or anything so far away, and never leave him for more than an hour or two.
But again it depends on how well trained your child is, the neighborhood, and if there are neighbors nearby you can trust if there is an emergency. My son is quite looking forward to his 12th bday in two months, so he can take the red cross babysitting course and get paid to babysit!
This is your choice, but if your kid blows it once, never trust him again. We have very distinct rules, no cooking being my biggest one. He can answer the phone, but not the door...and he shouldn't play outside without a friend.

It depends if your 11 yr old is mature enough to stay at home by themself. I don't think that a 11 yr old needs a babysitter

Depends how responsible, mature, self reliant and independent your child is. Slowly give your child more time alone and see how he or she does.
Ideally, an 11 year old would be responsible enough to take care of themself since by 13 they are serving as babysitters for other kids. It just comes down to the maturity of your child.

Dont look at age look at maturity, Does the 11 year old run around with undies on his head or wine a lot, can he cook his own meal, can he call 911 for help and can he be mature and not trash the house or cry without you. If he cant do all that he needs one but maybe you should start leaving him for some mineuts then hours, he'll get it soon

Is your 11 yr old mature for his/her age? Do you live in a good area? Is there someone not far that could check on him? There are so many factors if it isonly for like an hour a day and they know the routine to lock the door don't answer it for anyone and know emergency numbers than I would say ok but not all day.
