Yeah Saddam did kill but he killed the ones who were causing problems to stablelize his country. Saddam had only one type of enemies back then and yes he tortured and killed them but now Bush is not only killing the lives of people who were good citizens when Saddam was alive but he also have to deal with the re-surgent Anti-Saddam people who were in check when Saddam was in control cuz they hate Americans even more. Don't you agree It takes someone like Saddam to run Iraq cuz that's the fanatic mentallity of middle east over there? Bushe's, the American Ideology doensn't work over there, open your eyes! Now that I made my points, Isn't it scary to know Bush is running America when he can't even run Iraq??!!

Saddam was a ruthless dictator, but he had to be to maintain order in the region he lives in. Saddam knew his enemies would only be afraid if he promised death and delivered. When a US citizen threatens to kill or does kill an American President, they either go to jail forever or get put to death. This works because American culture is more sympathetic about life. In Iraq, the people there do not fear imprisonment, they only fear death, and a brutal death at that. They also fear humiliation. Saddam had to use his tactics to keep control over a region that is mired in war, corruption, and extremism. I wouldnot want Saddam to be President of the United States, but if he would have came to power in the atmosphere and culture that we have here in America, then he probably would not have committed any crimes.
BTW, to the person who believes that Saddam was committing genocide and trying to exterminate the Shiite an Kurds, that is not the entire story. The Kurds tried to assinate Saddam. They were known for having violent protests and causing alot of trouble and problems in the northern part of Iraq. Saddam could not find out who the main culprits were, so he declared war on any Kurd who he believed was involved.
Think of it this way, if a gang in your neighborhood is trying to tkae your land and kill you and your family, but you are not sure which ones are doing it. What would you do? I know you are going to say "Call the police," but honestly, Saddam did not have that option. If he holds a trial, then he is a weak man in the eyes of the people and more would try to kill him. Stop thinking in terms of America's culture. The Arab world does not have as much respect for human life or civility.
BTW, Saddam was taught in a Catholic school here in USA when he was a teenager. Don't think many Muslims liked that no matter what beliefs they had.

Obviously, you need a reality check, to the person above me, SADDAM WAS NOT TAUGHT IN A CATHOLIC SCHOOL, he was homeschooled by his uncle!!!!!! I dont know what idiot told you that, but back to the question, If you can say Saddam was a good leader, you can say that Stalin, Hitler, and Pol Pot were all first rate leaders. It takes more than stability to achieve the position as a good leader, most of the events that are occuring now is because of the suppresion the shia's suffered under Saddam. My best proof of this is that you dont see Muslims in other countries slaughtering each other, shia's and sunni's live in every Islamic nation. You can say Saddam had a right to slaughter the Kurds, and Shia's he did because they rebelled, well they would not have rebelled if they were given an equal share in the government. Its called the social contract, people give up certain inherent rights for the protection a government provides, if the government is not up to par, they have the right to change it, though this is not always so easy, dont forget the Sunni's only make up roughly one third of all Iraqi's.

I seriously hope that you are joking. This "leader" had innocent people rounded up, tortured and then buried in mass graves. He allowed his sons to pick up women purely to be taken and raped. Personally I think that the Iraqis deserve better than that. And by the way...Bush is not the one running Iraq. Were you asleep when there was all the footage of Iraqis with their purple thumbs showing they had voted? So No I don't agree that Saddam was a true leader.

He replaced right into a questionable chief for Iraq. there replaced into sectarian rigidity between the Shia's and the Sunni's yet any problem replaced into right away stamped out. He didnt care a lot for human rights, he did persecute the Kurds yet there is sweet data held with techniques from the U. S. to point to the Iranians gassing them in the course of the Iran/Iraq warfare. there replaced into no gassing of the Kurds interior the Gulf Wars, opposite to accepted conception... it is human beings getting their history muddled (oftentimes the misinformed individuals). the unhappy component to this all is that Saddam ought to have outfitted a good and thriving us of a which will were a beacon for the middle East.... Iraq replaced right into a touch average arab state, no the position close to as strict as Saudi Arabia or Yemen as an social gathering. i do not comprehend at what element he became from respected chief into loopy psychological human being. i wish that Iraq will hit upon a fashion ahead through the West and they are going to rebuild their us of a and contribute to the worlds economic gadget for that reason contributing to their personal.

Authoritarian regimes are what is needed to suppress any type of revolutionaries. As a history teacher of mine once said "The people of the middle east have been killing each other since they could throw rocks at each other." An authoritarian government is the only way to keep that in check. Unfortunately due to the inherent weaknesses in democracy as soon as the U.S pulls out of Iraq the democracy will fall leading to another authoritarian regime. And Bush isn't running either country it's the capitalist/industrialists that are running both.

He did not kill the ones that were causing trouble. Get your facts right! He killed Shia muslims and Kurds mostly because he wanted Iraq to be fully "Sunni Arab" .. Christians and Jews were also killed. He killed everyone that got into his way, including his sons-in-law. Perhaps you should read more about this subject

You are leaving out the fact that Saddam was Sunni. They were the minority, Shia's and Kurds were oppressed and even gassed by Saddam Huessin. Now that the Sunni's are out of power the Shia's are getting years of payback in on them.

we should leave other country's alone till they mess with us. then we deal with them in an appropriate manner.Saddam did to his people like many country's do. he kept them in line.look around the U.S. when anyone gets out of hand the feds usually kill them.theres many country's that do there people wrong.were not supposed to rule or control the world. we should take care of our people first. with all the money spent on war we could make life great for all Americans.Bush is not only stupid, and cares nothing for the people or the invironment, but I believe he is evil to boot.I hope you have a very Merry Christmas
