I assume that they are at your home, apt. If so I would wake them and ask them to go to the den, bedroom we live in such a fast paced society two jobs, school it's easy to get overwhelmed and tired. If your a friend be a friend.

Is he/she sober? If so, wake him/her up and tell him/her it's time to go home.
If he/she is not sober, it is not safe to send them home if he/she is driving. If possible, find a spot on the floor and let them stay the night. If a friend is willing to take this guest home, then, by all means, send them home.
Don't invite this sleepy head over the next time.

Depending on your age, if it's a friend who is a boy, just let him hang out. If your friend is a girl you better wake her and help her get home. Of course your parents would also know this answer.
You really need to trust their judgment a little more.

If you don't mind letting them crash on the couch, let him stay. You don't want to send your friend home driving drowsy, that could be as dangerous as drunk driving. If you don't want anyone to spend the night, don't have anyone over after dark.

I would wake them up and tell them its okay if they crash (as long as it is) but you wanted to make sure they didn't need to go home. Some people have curfew etc. So as long as its okay if they sleep at your house... just wake em up and say something like " If you don't need to go home I don't mind if you crash here but I don't want you to wake up in the morning and be in trouble with anyone or mad at me for not waking you up. "

just tell them if they are too tired to hang out then maybe they should go home a take a nap. sending them home kinda seems mean. don't say "go home!". :)

Are they high? Why don't you just wake them up and ask them if they are ready to go home.

Wake them up and make sure they dont have anything important to do in the morning. if they dont then give them a pillow and blanket. but if they do it all of the time......thats another story.
