he says that dinosaur bones are rock formation put there by god, petrified wood was created by a mystical fire 6000 years ago, and that the earth is the center of the universe. Class is really akward because of him. What should we do? We want him OUT and HATE him.

He is obviously a young man that has very strong beliefs. You can't fault him and you should not hate him, but he also should not monopolize the teacher, nor the class, nor your time. He certainly has a right to express his beliefs, but it sounds like he is causing the rest of the class not to be learning what you are there for, biology. Have any of you just asked him during class to quiet down and let the teacher teach? That might work or it might make it worse. Maybe one or more of you should approach the teacher and ask what can be done about this young man. If you get no where with the teacher, as he might not be able to do anything, maybe go to the school administration and ask if they can do something. Or a group of you could approach the student and explain your frustration with his arguing with the teacher all of the time and you not being able to learn what you are there for. It's a Catch-22, he has a right to free speech, but you also have a right to your education. I wish you luck.

I hate him too, he is the same type of retard who lead the crusades or the holocaust, and that is not even close to an overstatement. You should pity him he lives in fairytale Christian land and believes the WHOLE bible, Go and by him the book “The God Delusion” this should clear up his mind. If he is too brainwashed to comprehend the truth then I guess this is another example of religion being a burden on society and how ignorant believers have to be to accept the “bible truth”.

And seriously get the whole class to put some money together and buy that book it will be funny to see if he will read it or freak out or what. XD

Leave it to Teacher- he/she probably will take care of the situation. If not, contact the principal or some type of school administrator. Christians who claim the earth was baked up in 144 hours are misinformed even from a biblical standpoint.

Genesis says for example that dry land and vegetation came into existence on Day 3. It also says that Adam would die the day he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and bad. Adam lived for more than 9 centuries according to Genesis. Who hasn't heard the expression, "Back in my day", refering to a time period, not a 24-hour literal day?

There is not much you can do without tactful communication. There will be a time and a place to let him know that what he is doing is actually offending rather than helping. Some people do lack tact, it happens. If it is merely annoying there is nothing you can do but ignore. The teacher will back him off when he can't stand it.

Not everyone represents God to a tee persayyy... lol

Try not to hate him, that wont help you either, Just forget about it and keep your peace =)

I am Christian. And I enjoy Biology. Doesn't mean I agree with every single little detail, but that is no reason to fight in class.
Don't look at this guy as the 'Christian guy' but just as the crazy nuts and very rude guy'.
Its more of his personality coming through it seems. Wait till out of class to talk to him and tell him, or get a friend/teacher to tell him how you all feel, or write a note and slip it in his locker or something less confrontational. Just dont fight back in class, and talk to the teacher to not argue back also.

He shouldn't be allowed to waste class time spouting off about that stuff since it's not relevant. You are learning what is widely accepted to be the truth and the class is not about debating the curriculum. He can believe whatever he wants but he can't disrupt the class by wasting time talking about his theories. Tell him to keep his mouth shut and wait until after class. The teacher should know how to deal with him and keep him quiet so others can learn. If he fails, that's his problem.

This person is disrupting class. The teacher is mostly likely very aware of it. The kid is trying to get attention by arguing with the teacher and taking up time.

Hopefully, the teacher has spoken with him. He/she may need to talk with him some more or better yet, bring in the parents.

Have you spoken with the teacher about your feelings? If several students speak up, this will give the teacher some "ammunition" to speak to his unit principal, his parents or whomever else is needed.

Let the fire settle down and go through the source and sort it out... it is not about Christianity... it is about ego that have been touched and he is the center of the ridicule.

The topic he had been discussing have been resolve a long time ago and he was put into it. A dead end for him.

Maybe you could talk to the teacher about it privately after class, let him/her know that your classmate is really causing a distraction to the learning environment.

It sounds out of hand, and the teacher really should take responsibility to manage things so that the other students' education doesn't suffer bc of this one loudmouth kid.

I'd say it's the teacher's responsibility to talk to this kid privately and explain that even if science conflicts with his religious beliefs, this is what is learned in school, and what he teaches is what the student needs to learn. The student can choose to BELIEVE whatever he wants, but the fact is that he still has to LEARN this scientific information as well.

have your class write a letter to the principal describing the situation. that will force him to take it up with the kid's parents who will probably support his claims, but may face suspension if their son doesn't alter his behavior. he's allowed his opinions but arguing with the teacher about the validity of the curriculum is not one that should be debated during class time. if his parents don't agree with the secular form of teaching found in public schools, then they should pay for a private education so the child can finish his studies.
