Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring out windows task manager. Click on the process tab and select the process you wish to kill and press "End Process".

Start>Run>type in msconfig . Hit enter. Click on Startup. There you can stop programs from loading up at startup. Be careful not to start a Microsoft entry.

You can also remove them from startup, resulting in a faster boot up.

Start > Run > type msconfig hit enter > Startup

Then unclick items that you don't want to run at startup.

close on them by clicking the "x" on the top right or right click and close on the bottom blue icon of the program or alt+4
