I think it is called recycle.com OR freecycle.com where you can post the things you want to get rid of. Someone who needs it will come and take it off your hands and as a member you can browse for something that you want and if you find it you can have it for free.

it's freecycle.com it works people post what they have and then otherscome and pick it up you can join all of them in your area.it's really simple
