I have this game called Wings of Glory for my PC and it's an old MS-DOS program(it was made in 1994). It seems to install just fine, but I can't get it to run. Is there anything I can do to get it to run on my Windows XP computer or is it not going to work?

When it's installed click start, all programs, find your game and right click the .exe icon, click the compatibility tab and you'll be able to switch the compatibility... hopefully that will do the trick.

I think in xp there is a compatibility tab when you right click the exe and click properties. check off set the compatiblilty and select the operating system that it was originally intended for.
The problem with running ms dos program as you probably know is that XP does not contain ms-dos. If that becomes the case check out if maybe there is an alternative program you can use to properly play.

I bought some cheap old 3.5 game from a local dollar store once and had to keep clicking the exe to open the file and then a functioning window popped up I was good to go.

hope this helps.

I've run into this type of stuff before with classic gaming.

Goto the exe file, in it's Program folder. right-click on it and select Properties.

Under the Compatibility tab, you can set it to run under Windows 95.

This often works in my experience, but not always.

Some ultility boot CD's will allow you to boot your computer to MS-DOS 6 right off of the CD.

Windows XP should have compatibility mode to choose from, but it's not as good as the DOS emulation in Windows98.

download and install a program called DOSBOX. then we will be able to load that and type in these commands:

Mount C: C:\directory of the game
C:
gamestartfile

So in the first step we are pointing the program to make C: a drive and to have it only contain the folder that your game is installed in.

Next you are going to that drive C:

Now you can type in the executable file that will load your game.

Good luck!

although you are suppose to be able to create a "dos" window to run those old programs on, lots of luck

that is the reason that i keep an old computer running Win 3.11, for just such things.....

old machines are cheap if you can find them..
