The Scoop on Non-Dairy Creamers

As to non-dairy creamers: most are nothing BUT chemicals and “food derivatives.” The primary ingredients are vegetable-based (hydrogenated) oils, sodium compounds, and artificial color and flavor. These are hazerdous to your health and are SUPER secret sabateurs to your weight loss efforts.

If you MUST have your coffe or tea “light,” there is an alternative: use Rice Dream (or similar rice-based “milk” substitutes from your local supermarket or health food store) with carbohydrate meals, or just use milk in your coffee with protein meals.

As a rule to live by - stick with REAL FOOD. There is no way to "cheat" on this diet. Stick with the real deal. ANYTHING artificial will hinder your weight loss and cause you nothing but a big fat frustration headache. Although Judy underplayed the importance of health foods in her original book, there have been thousands (if not hudreds of thousands) of fake foods, chemicals, and additivies that are on the shelves today that were not there even 10 years ago. Because of this, taking care of yourself and eating REAL FOOD is more important today than ever before

The real culprit in NDC's (Non-Dairy Creamers) is the hydrogenated Palm oil content. This so-called "vegetable oil" is hydrogenated to whiten it and to make it more stable against extreme temperatures. But because they are hydrogenated (the process where a substance is bombarded with hydrogen molecules) it turns the oil into a a solid form. When mixed in the blood, this oil performs exactly the same and they solidify in the blood vessels and cause the arteries to form plaque. Eventually, this plaque formation will overcome the flow of blood and cause either atherosclerosis or a myocardial infarction. Is this considered as transfat? Yes they are because it you were to look at it molecular structure, it is composed of long chain triglycerides that are linked to one another. Because of this, it is a very stable compound and is not easily broken down. So is transfat good for the body? Definitely not. It is the no, cause of death in America. And people die of it without even knowing. Why? Because of an FDA loophole in the declaration of nutritional labeling where if a certain product in its package contains less than 0,5g of transfat, it can be declared in its label that it has ZERO TRANSFAT. Then if you gobble up too much of it, then it becomes hazardous to your health.

no, they are not bad for you at all. the coffee on the other hand might be the thing that is bad for you. but all that coffee creamer is, is basically milk. dried milk. and theres nothing in it that can harm you unless it has splenda in it, splenda is not a very good thing to have, its an artificial sweetener, and it can do damage if you have too much of it.

No. They are usually based on sodium caseinate which is derived from a milk protein, casein. They may also contain some vegetable oil solids and corn syrup. Some use a soy rather than milk protein.

Having said that it is not bad for you, I should say that it does depend on what you do with it. When suspended in air, it is more flammable than flour. It will explode.

As with everything, moderation is the key. You have Fat-Free alternatives but as previously said if you go with a natural product like milk, it'd be better.

I don't know if they're bad for you, but they taste disgusting and should be avoided if at all possible. You should only use it if you also happen to be drinking Nescafe or something. *shudder* nasty, nasty, nasty.

What a way to ruin a perfectly good cup of coffee.
