Personally, I do not like any website whatsoever. I have found flights with my travel agents that are cheaper than any website I have looked at. For example, I got a flight from Calgary to Osaka Japan for only $800. And that was with Air Canada, Asiana Airlines and Korean Air via Los Angelas and Seoul. Plus the service and the expertise at Travel Agents aren't matched by websites. But then again, some people say they had better luck on websites. I don't know.

But the website out of all of them I do like is http://www.kayak.com
They compare many websites for you as well. And I found flights that weren't too bad price wise.

http://www.orbitz.com is okay, except some of the flights they give you have extra legs which makes the ticket more expensive than if you were to fly without so many ridiculous legs. But it gives you an idea of flights which you can use to make your own intinerary and ask a travel agent later.

Don't forget to ask a travel agent. You maybe able to find cheap cheap flights.

Its very important to know the terms and conditions along with its fare, cheapest fare often have more restricted rules like , they are often non refundable and date change charges are high . i recommend http://cheapfares2india.com to get the cheapest fare along with the details of each ticket.

it changes all the time, book mark as many places as you can and monitor them all the time, get on the mailing lists for the individual airline emails they will let you know when they are having a sale. I used to like yahoo's travel fare watcher, but lately it hasn't been as good as it was in previous years.
