Its not a means to an end, but I have been asked to be a godfather. Its a tremendous honour, but I need to be christened as a result. Is it possible to just have a small ceremony, not even necessarially in a church?

Speak to the priest/rector. He or she may be glad to do the christening in private.

I'm not Anglican, I'm a Christian and I got baptised in a swimming pool. Heaps of people I know got baptised at the beach! But I think Anglicans are more ceremonial aren't they? I think if you just went to an Anglican priest and asked him to baptise you then you shouldn't need a big ceremony? Sorry, hope this helps...Have a nice day

The answer is yes. The question is by whom? If you are to be an Anglican godfather, you can be baptized in any Christian religion. If you are to be baptized Anglican, you many need to ask around for a priest willing to accomodate you. Try the smaller parishes first, they tend to be more open to such things.

why not? you could have it in your back yard. just invite the family of the child/children over, the individual who would be officiating, and take care of it that way. at least then you will have the witnesses so many people think you need, as well as some privacy. oh... and congratulations on becoming a godfather.

Yes you can be baptised at a small ceremony, as your local minister / pastor and he will be glad to baptise you upon proffesion of faith.

Talk to your minister and see what he says.. there are simple baptismal ceremonies for adults but you have to prepare for them first and the baptismal font is in the church.

Yes it is, but it would be a false baptism and serve you for nothing. You should just dunk yourself in a pool and call it a day.
