It's a statue of another god, similar to the ones the Israelites carved while Moses was on mount Sinai... Is that a violation of the Ten Commandments?

I think that counts as art and not a graven image. Unless people are praying to it that is.

It is considered a "graven image", YES, but I'm not sure if he was a god though... Although some may consider to elevate him as such since he apparently stole from the gods and gave FIRE and technology to mankind.

And, YES, it would be a violation of the Ten Commandments IF YOU WORSHIP such a "graven image".

Peace be with you.

Staci, New York City is the safest large city in America. Rockefeller Center is one of the nicest safest places in this city. I allowed my daughter to go there (with her girlfriend) when she was 14. There is one problem it is crowded, but well worth it. - Also want a hot chocolate. on the street sides above the skating rink there are elevators (in glass cylinders) to the lower level. Get a hot drink at starbucks and grab a seat (lots of free seating) and watch the skaters. It may be packed above, but there is always a seat below.

wait, I'm confused, the Rockefeller Center is privately owned I thought. In what way does that violate the 10 commandments? The government isn't endorsing a religion.

I don't think the idea was to ban all statues - but the WORSHIP of them.

I don't think I've seen anyone worship this statue - and I don't think that it was intended to be worshiped - so NO, I don't think this is an issue.

Prometheus was not a god.
He took fire from the gods and gave it to mankind.

no, since nobody uses it for worship. only objects that are worshiped as gods are graven images.

Yes, but who cares? It's not like there's any real god around who would mind.
