Please do not get them anything teacher or cutesy, they get that with your child every day. I am sure they love what they are doing and the children they work with but they are people too. Get them a gift certificate for the movies, a massage, Bath and Body Works, etc. I have a lot of Christmas tree ornaments that were made by my students which I love. I remember those students every year when I decorate my tree. Thanks for asking, I hope it helps.

Gift cards are always a good idea. Apple anything. Ornaments that say "A+ teacher" are good too!Be careful with candles and perfumes -- we all like different fragrances. And some of us are trying to get our figure back so chocolates might not be the best idea. The best thing for your teacher will depend on the teacher. Gift cards are good because then the teacher can pick their own gift.
Make sure the gift card is something the teacher would use. Also, with coffee mugs -- not everyone drinks coffee or hot chocolate/tea. Be sure to chose your gift according to the teacher.

I was once a Preschool teacher. My favorite gifts:
1. Framed pics of the kids
2. A mug that said something like "It doesn't matter what's in your bank account. It matters that you made a difference in the life of a child." That's not the exact phrase, but you get the idea.
3. A handmade candle holder the child helped create
All precious awesome gifts!! And it is nice to be acknowledged!!

At the daycare where I work, a couple of the parents have done lunches for us, as in pizza or even just appetizers and cold cuts. I work with about 15 or so staff, so it would be costly for the parents to buy each of us a gift, but this way they include everyone, and we really appreciate it!

For Christmas I like to receive(I'm a pre-K teacher) and to give is an ornament.
A copy of the child's favorite book with their name and pic inside.
A copy of the child's favorite CD, although any children's CD would be nice.
Another thing teachers like are books like from Gryphon House
and School Stuff Stores.

A gift basket with supplies for the classroom. Such as art supplies and things of that nature. You want to be careful with giving chocolates or fragrances because many people have allergies to fragrances and there are those who are allergic to chocolate. Anything with the child's picture on it would be nice too. The apple thing has been way overdone. I would rather have something that the child made themselves than anything store bought.

Teachers always are taking money out their pockets to buy materials for their class. So either I would say a nice gift basket with materials or duble it up with a nice gift card to Staples and a relaxing kit.
