I have 2 7 month old female cats and when they go get a drink of water out of their bowl they move their paws scratching at the floor like they would do in a cat box, why is that? Also when they eat their wet food they take their paws and scoop the food up with their paws and eat it like that or throw it on the floor and eat it. Help please. Thanks, Heidi.

Sounds like they either don't like the bowls their being fed from or maybe they don't like the spot that you have their bowls in. My cat used to do that when I'd move her bowl to an area that she didn't like.

Some cats do not like eating or drinking from a bowl. I purchased a cat fountain so that my cats could drink from a stream since they seem to prefer drinking directly from the tap. Try feeding them on a saucer versus a bowl and see if that helps. Good Luck.

Try feeding your cat in a hog style feed where they can only put their heads through the hole to eat and the paws will not be able to touch the food.

My cat does the scratching at the floor thing to.Dont know why..maybe just part of his eccentric personality. With the wet food try a flat dish.If that doesnt work maybe thats just the way they like to eat.

Don't feed them from bowls - they obviously don't like eating from a "depression." Feed them of flat plates or saucers. As for their water, use a wide flat dish that can hold an einch of water or get a cat water fountain.
