That's a great question and probably one that most people wrestle with. I know I do. If you think about it thought, "doing good" is something that should be done out of love for God, love for others and respect for self. An eternal reward exists for those who remain faithful to God for their entire life and are wholehearted in their daily walk with God. That doesn't mean being perfect or relying on some "cheap grace" but it's about heart. Wholehearted devotion to God through his son. I just got married and my wife & I had our first kiss on our wedding day (with eachother, but we both had sexual experiences in our past just no with eachother-we made a decision). Now, I'm not saying this to brag, and I can still miss the boat and not make it if I get self-righteous and start acting like I'm holier than anyone, but I can tell you that now, I really see the benefits of purity in my relationship now. I don't see purity as a punishment, but a benefit...

Say there was no God (there is but for the benefit of the doubt) and people did whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. Imagine the sate of the world if the earth even still existed by that time. There would be murders and raping in the middle of the street, no justice system, robbery and drug dealing everywhere. Then imagine what the world would be like if all had turned to Christ. Nothing even related ot those things would exist. So if it was all fake (not saying it is, the opposite) I wouldn't regret it because I had tried to do all I could to help others which is a gift and reward unto itself.

hmmm, isn't our world now almost like hell? If we end up in hell anyway, then we've got some practice in. Although, i believe in Jesus and follow the commandments, so I have at least an 80% chance of going to heaven.

When God tells us not to do something he has our present and future benefit in mind. Like he tells us that sex is reserved for marriage. Why? Because it protects us from many things. Emotional pain, sexual diseases, unwanted pregnancy, etc. God loves us and knows what is in our best interest in the here and now as well as in the future. Let's take other laws of God like the Ten Commandments, in each one of these laws good can come of the one who obeys these laws. Heartache and pain can come of our disobedience to His laws. When we really think of all the pain the Lord is keeping us from, you will see that you are really not missing anything by being obedient except grief. Are a few moments of excitement worth a lifetime of pain and grief? I think not!

Limey,
First of all there is no way you are anyone else can remain pure, as you call it. Thats the reason why God sent his Son to die for our sins, because he knew that we would not be sinless. God gave us His Son to save us from our sins. It's very simple believe in Him and your sin's will be forgiven.

No as I imagine that the services you performed for people out of love will have been better than anything you didn't do. Plus if you don't try it once you don't miss it. Your life would have been full of love and your kindnesses would live on in others.

Sorry Limey. No hell, just heaven.
You don't need to do anything in particular to end up there cause there is no where else to go.

I wouldn't worry about that seeing as i am already dead, and there is no place for me to think about anything seeing as there is no heaven or hell if i go by what you said.

Why would I worry about "sinning," basically, sin agrees in almost every instance with humanist law. When you sin, you either degrade yourself, and make yourself less able to live with others, or you actually damage someone.
