Islam is the name of the religion (like "Christianity), a Muslim is a follower (like Christian). Muslim can be a noun meaning the person, or an adjective describing the person. Islamic is another adjective meaning "having to do with Islam", but it doesn't usually apply to an individual person. A Muslim woman, but an Islamic tradition or an Islamic country.
