Dandruff comes from extrememly dry scalp-- so, if you're using dandruff shampoos and they're not working, what you need to do is reduce the number of times you use shampoo in your hair, which dries the scalp and hair.
Don't go without washing, no, but use only conditioner, and use shampoo every third day. You'll see Major improvement.

If you don't have an allergy to aspirin, pulverise a small bottle's worth of aspirin - approx 20 tablets - and mix it with a gentle shampoo for frequent use. Use of this shampoo should ease flaking slowly. Also, apply vinegar to the scalp and then, use a fine tooth comb to loose most of the flakes before washing your hair. And, if poss, wash your hair every other day. Tea tree oil is also supposed to ease the over-production of scalp skin cells and the related yeast issue, as a leave-in after-shampoo treatment.
Have you tried Nizoral shampoo and the related cream? Ask your doctor about it.
I've also been told that lecithin and iodine ease dandruff. Cutting coffee and minimising dairy is also supposed to be a big help.

Go to the over the counter pharmacy section of a drug store and purchase the medicated shampoo called T/Sal, with (salicylic acid 3.0%), and another shampoo (may have to get prescription for this one), called Loprox shampoo with (ciclopirox 1%). Use both of these shampoos alternating between the two each day, (day one, salicyic acid shampoo, day two, loprox shampoo). Always make sure to wash hair daily. This will take away dandruff symptoms. There is no cure for dandruff, only treatments are available.

Well the magic of using a dandruff shampoo is keep using it for about a month. But the effectiveness of shampoo differ from one person to another. Hang on to one product and keep using it. dont use it too much. Twice a week is enough.
quickest way to get rid of Dandruff: washing items touch your hair at the same time you use shampoo.. pillow case, bed sheets, your comb, your towels, or anything that touch your hair(caps). Because these things contain Dandruff after you use them, and keep coming back to you. Even there is lot of work, this is the best way!!

try these few things... hope something helps! :)
1. INGREDIENTS: Baby Shampoo (Cocamidopropyl Betaine)
Light Body Oil (Isopropyl Myristate w/ Sesame Oil)
INSTRUCTIONS: This Remedy is based on the theory that my Dandruff was caused by a combination of Unhealthy Dry Scalp, the damaging acids of most shampoos and conditioners, and alergic reactions to ingredients in
shampoos and conditioners. The Baby Shampoo cleans the hair and scalp with a pH that is not acid like the ingredients in most shampoos and body washes (incidentally the same ingredient.)The Light Body Oil is marketed by several companies and seems to be non-alergenic in most forms. The main marketer of the Light Body Oil is Neutrogena.
Instructions: Clean the hair and scalp once with the Baby Shampoo. Apply the Body Oil to the scalp and let it soak for a while (usally as long as it takes to wash the rest of you.) Wash the hair and scalp again with the Baby Shampoo. The Baby Shampoo cleanses the hair and scalp with its less harsh ingredients. The Body Oil softens and conditions the scalp and restores it to an unblemished condition. The second treatment of Baby Shampoo removes the excess oil from the scalp and pores leaving the skin still infused with the conditioning oils.A nice side effect is the hair conditioning properties of the Light Body Oil. This keeps you from having to use harsh conditioners that could also cause your scalp to react badly and flake off.
2. INGREDIENTS: 1 tblspn of Olive oil
1 tspn of limejuice
old scarf
INSTRUCTIONS: Mix 1 tblspn of Olive oil with 1 tspn of limejuice. Apply well on the scalp and cover the head by tying an old scarf.Keep it on overnight and shampoo the next morning
3. Ingredients = curd, honey, onion juice
Instructions = Dandruff is actually dry scalp and the pain of the hair. To get rid off you can try a mixture of 2 tbsp of curd and a few drops of honey is rubbed on the scalp half hour before bath and then the hair is washed.Onion juice is massaged on the scalp half hour before bath and then the hair is washed. This really really helped me so I suggest everyone to try it.
All of these recommendations are out of a home help rememdy book. I am not sure however if any of them actually work. Though, it can't hurt to try???
Oh, I have suffered from dandruff in the past and I have used T-Gel shampoo. Go into any Eckert or Rite Aid and ask the pharmasist
