Morally speaking, there isn't a reason why he couln't have. Some might cite the fact that the New Testament describes the church as the "bride" of Christ, but that is a picture of our relationship to him, not something that would limit his earthly interactions.

However, not only does the Bible say nothing to lead us to think such a thing, but Christ's purpose on earth was simple and straightforward - to live perfectly for us and proclaim who he was to the world, to die innocently for us, and to rise triumphantly for us on the 3rd day.

Any such "Da Vinci Code" discussion that results from the "what if's" of Jesus' marrying, only serve to distract us from his expressed purpose. For that reason, it seems clear that he could not have been married or had children.

The main reason is because He is GOD! He came to save sinners- and God came as Jesus in the flesh- see John 1:1 God has prophesied about Jesus since the creation of the world..the OT leads up to Jesus' death and resurrection- the meaning of life is salvation through Jesus Christ....The da vinci code has tried to cover up that fact by leading people astray with false doctrine...Jesus Christ was sinless and did not come into this world to get married and have children like God created US to do- for Jesus is God. And not only that- because its very clear Jesus is God, when you study the Bible, and let the Holy Spirit lead you into all truth of the word of God- Do not fall into the trap the enemy has set....the trap being the da vinci code and anything else similar that is UNBIBLICAL. If it is contrary to the word of God, it is NOT the truth.

Hi, I would like to try to answer your Q for you. I don't find a "reason why Jesus COULD NOT do either, only that He DID NOT do either while He was on earth. If He HAD the Bible would say so. I believe this because the Bible is the inspired (breathed)Word of God.

We don't know anything about his life between the ages of 12 and 30, but don't you think the Gospel writers might have mentioned that? When they were describing in great detail the activities of his mother, brothers, and friends, mightn't they have mentioned little Yeshua, Jr.?

No reason to think he could not have been married and/or had many children. Even the bible does not account for almost 30 years of his life.

This is how my grandfather explained it to me once: We start with the Christian doctrine of the Trinity; Jesus=God, God=Jesus. In the Old Testament, God has a symbollic marriage with Israel. Therefore, if Jesus were to be married, He would be committing adultery, which then invalidates the belief of the sinlessness of Jesus, and with that goes the doctrine that He died for us.

He wouldn't have because He knew He was going to die. That would have been irresponsible.
