I can't help but wander:

Has a single member of the religious right ultra conservative fringe of the republican party ever read this?
Mathew 5:3-48; 6:1-34; 7:1-27
It's in this real neat old Book called the Bible. Don't just thump on its cover pick it up and read it sometime, it will change your life.
God Bless and Merry Christmas

I am a devout Liberal, and proponent of the right of individual freedom. I love my God and my country. I work for a living, and believe in an honest days work for an honest days pay. I believe that Bill Clinton was one of the greatest Presidents to have ever held that office, and that Jimmy Carter is probably one of the most descent men ever to have lived in this country. I also believe that George Herbert Walker Bush is a traitor to the constitution of this great land and a war profiteer and drug lord. I believe his son is an arrogant inept wanna be dictator who was put in power by his father and cronies in a so far successful coup that started with the marriage of the Mafia, and the Central Intelligence Agency at the corner of Houston and Elm in Dallas Texas in 1963.
God Bless America.

So, as a "Christian Liberal", do you support: abortion until birth, homosexual marriage, teaching children exactly HOW to have sex with a condom (without a marriage), telling lies about public figures, ad hominem "debating", fornication, adultery, disposable marriages? Those are just a few of the things "liberals" are known for supporting.

Exactly how do they fit in with Jesus' Sermon on the Mount? With the Beattitudes? With Christianity in general?

I have read the Bible through many times, and these passages are no exception. I still wonder how anybody can call themselves a "Christian" and support such policies. Perhaps you can explain this?

Jesus said that unless our "righteousness" SURPASSES (emphasis mine) the righteousness of the Pharisees, we would not have a chance of making it into heaven. How can you make a liberal political stance line up with the righteousness from God that Jesus revealed? I would really like to see an explanation for that.

Have a great night.

You really wandered with your scripture references. Pat Robertson has put more money to helping the poor, the crippled, and the others in dire need because of those verses you mentioned. Ann Coulter's job is that like a watchman on the wall warning of approaching danger using the public media as her bully pulpit. You claim to be a liberal which translates to being for more government controls. Conservatives want less control because it hampers freedom and cost more in taxes. We yell about taxes but you want more controls. So wake up, Laddy.

I am a non-believer BECAUSE there are both nice, loving verses and also the damning judgmental ones. Once I admitted that, it didn't take long to philosophize that God can't create someone He perfectly well knows is going to be a non-believer (omniscience) and be 'loving' by creating a Hell to send them to. I don't consider it either a 'just' punishment or 'tough love'
I have a child and the point of tough love is so that they learn for next time. If Hell is eternal, there is no next time. If you believe there's no Hell, then you don't believe the Bible is a complete truth and there's nothing written before or at the time to support it. And on and on...

I'm with Mama Bear on this one. I don't believe you can be a liberal Christian. Christians have to have morals and actually STAND for something and not be all-accepting. Part of what Jesus is talking about in 5:10 is being persecuted for being righteous. We, as Christians are always being persecuted for standing up for what we know is right and against what we know to be wrong. I don't see liberals saying ANYTHING is wrong. Homosexuality, abortion, etc.

I'm a Christian and a Libertarian and if they did read it perhaps they forgot to pray for understanding first.
As Christians we are suppose to worry if we are acting in love and that we get the message of God's love and forgiveness out to the people who don't have it but then we are supposed to let God change them into His image not what they are doing and we should as Christians have enough humility to realize it will take the Love of God for any positive change to any person. God's law does not need to be legislated. It is written in our heart.

Liberal, eh? You believe in Abortion then????

Thou shall not murder! And Partial Birth Abortion is nothing BUT murder!!!

Remember, whether your liberal, conservative, ultra conservative, as long as you follow the "good book", then you shouldnt have anything to worry about...(Also, giving yourself over to CHRIST for Salvation is a "must" along with Baptism)...

Everyone will have an interpretation according to his or her "doctrine"... Those that have been brought up in ultra conservative homes, will have a "stiffer interpretation" of the bible. Those who have been in homes with hardly any religious upbringing will have a more loose interpretation, at most times...

Also, the age of the person will come into play..

But, remember this most, a lot of people want "GOD" to "conform" to thier version of HIM!!! And, it just simply aint gonna happen!

I wish you well..

Jesse

Christianity has been more in line with Liberal values for centuries. The right wing swing of recent decades has more to do with control than Jesus.

Why, as a liberal, would you torture your intellect by reading anything that self-righteous ***** Ann Coulter puts out? I know it's good to know what they enemy is saying, but she needs... no, I'm not going to say what she needs. I'll just say it involves incindiary devices.

Just listening to the two you mentioned and you can tell they are both extemely unhappy, violent, and sexually frustrated people. The only joy either finds in their lives is by trying to make everyone else as miserable as they are.
