Illegals are costing this country and the taxpayer too much! Higher property and school taxes, more taxes to build more prisons to house those that break the law, more money needed to support "anchor babies" who have parents that collect food stamps and medicaid for those babies. More money paid out for medical care to give aid to these people, more money paid out in WIC for the children of illegals who collect on babies born here! Time to see that illegals get one more free thing courtesy
of the American taxpayer......a free ride home! Illegals GO HOME!!!

There is a reason that it is called "illegal immigration", instead of "legal immigration". Immigrants are generally beneficial to a country, as long as the country is in need of immigrants. Immigrants bring wealth of knowledge, ideas, money, investments, labor, and etc. Economically, Immigrants tend to be cheaper than native in terms of labor costs. The U.S. is the nation of immigrants. BUT, if there is a law that prevents migration through unrecorded entry and exists of nonnative population, then that makes a illegal migrant, a violator of law. Depends to the jurisdiction, they can be labeled as a criminal. Thus, I'm oppose of only the illegal immigration, because they are breaking laws, they are not licensed to work, which makes it hard for them to get a job, so as results, they have tendency to do more criminal acts. Sure, they are easy target of being exploited, or be enslaved, but that is not economically beneficial to a country.
II) This might sound biased, but I think immigrants might cause demographic threats, if their culture if very different from the host's culture. They are tend to live under poverty, which prone them to do more illegal actions, such as robbery, drug trafficking, prostitution, murder, gangs, identity theft, fraud, and etc. Aside from that, they tend to be less likely to go to college and get better jobs, which keep them in the circle of poverty for generations, which to me sounds like a new caste of unwanted people.

I live in a border town. I think the primary problem is the law that enables illegal immigrants to have children here who become automatically legal.

Why this law is, is nuts. It needs to be retroactively changed; and the people deported. It needs to have happened 30 years ago.

It's pretty bad when a veteran with her legs blown off in Iraq can't get on the list for section 8 housing because of all the illegal parents of legal children who get on the list first and claim up all the social program money. We can't afford to be funding the health care and food and shelter for other people's children.

My opinion is that the Catholic Church needs to seriously step up to the plate here and put massive money into the border areas on Mexico's side to help the poor by feeding, clothing, and sheltering them, then educating and putting them to work.

The Catholic Church is responsible for promoting no birth control, they need to take responsiblity for the resulting problems of encouraging people bring kids into the world before there is enough money to care for them! You never hear a word about this though, and yet the church has plenty of money--put it to good use.

although I'm liberal, I hate illegal immigration. My Asian family came here legally so I don't understand why Hispanics can't do the same

I've boycotted mexican restaurants that closed on that fateful day they all protested around the Country. :-)

You might ask how do I know, well that's what a phone is for and trust me when I got the answering maching stating they're closed due to an illness, well, I left my message. I'm not stupid.

That's how I feel about ILLEGAL immigration!

First I think everyone needs to put stereotypes to the back of their mind for this. Not every illegal immigrate is Mexican, that seems to be the general idea. Second, it is really their problem if they get caught for being illegal. But mainly, it is their choice that they didn't legally immigrate to this country.

None, I let that Bushy guy who lives in the white house to take care of it. If he hasn't done much, then it means that it isn't that bad, illegal immigration, that is. I just know that those poor people need some type of make-over.

It must stop and now. Legal immigration is great for our coutry, but we must stop this illegal immigration, we have good immigration laws, we just need enforcement. No reform, No amnesty.

the motive ($$$$$$$$$) behind illegal immigration on both the supply and demand side of the problem makes it an issue that will unfortunately never be resolved!!!!!!

the hypocrisy and absurdity of our policy on illegal immigration and how we treat illegals astounds me every time i hear people talk about this "problem"

I personally have other things to worry about. I'm not obsessed with it like some people are. True that illegal immigration affects the job market and spoils it for the few who are trying to do immigrate legally. But don't you think if our lovely government really and truly wanted to do something about it, they would have done something about it 20 years ago instad of giving mass amnesty ? Tiffani's a trip ! They sure do need some makeovers !
