just wondering, i'm failing history. Does it really help? Will you still get the credit and everything? If you take a class online do they avarage your grade you got at school and the grade you got online or just the grade online? Thanks!

Well, I guess the first question has to be who is the "they" who are looking at it? You will probably have a transcript for both courses and whoever needs to see them will look at both. However, the on line course may not be given the same degree of credibility as the course from a bricks and mortar school.

I work at a university as an administrator for online classes. Of course, it depends on where you take the courses, but all of the online courses that I've seen over the years are at least the same level of difficulty as a face-to-face class if not more so due to the required self-motivation. If you came into my office and told me your situation, I would not recommend an online History class to you. Online learning is fantastic, however, it may not be the best for your situation. With that being said, every online program is different. You may want to see if your advisor, classmates, or friends know of a good online History course. Or perhaps it would be better for you to get a tutor or see your current instructor about your options. As far as how the grades are factored in, it depends on your school's policy. Some schools factor all grades in and some allow you to replace a failing grade with another grade when you retake the course. Check out your bulletin for that information. Good luck!
