i mean most women convert Islam because the way it treats her
im a women and in Islam im treated the best...men open car doors when im going in, they help us, they don't let us stand in lines for stuff in markets for example, they let us pass first. if a women is carrying something heavy they help her with it, sometimes i wake up and my car is clean, because my old man neighbor cleaned it while cleaning his
i lived my whole life in Muslim countries. Palestine, Jordan, Saudi, Egypt and went to the USA and Britain but never found a good way in treating a women , only in Islam
When a women is married, she can not work if she does not want to, but she also can, both ways the HUSBAND is the one to spend money on her, the money she gets from her work is hers
When she is hurt even by a touch she can go to court, Islam gives her the right to divorce and have money too

Because Islam treats Woman as Human, not as a commodity.
Man and woman has deferent responsibilities according to their physical construction. That is all.
Man has more responsibilities then woman.
Man has responsibilities to protect and provide necessities to woman, within the limits allowed by God Almighty.

Well, in Pakistan when women get raped they have to keep quiet as adultery is punishable by death and that is how they see rape: adultery.
Western women are seen and treated like sluts by 70% of muslim people.
A muslim cannot leave his/her religion, the punishment is death and they do inforce it, so if you have the misfortune of being born one but want to have nothing to do with it you are stuck.
Muslim women are NOT allowed to pray in the mosques.
Your description of women is the same as they get treated in Italy, the difference of course being that they can get a divorce should they end up with an abusive husband.
Of course there are always two sides to a coin but the main problem is you have no freedom of choice, you are stuck with it so I can only wish you will never fancy a change.

I spent five years in Saudi Arabia. The beggar ladies would sit outside the supermarket, hoping for alms, because there was literally nothing else they could do to earn a living. I would give them ten riyals (US$2.65). As for why anyone would convert to Islam, I have no idea; on analysis, it is no better than any other religion, i.e. it is totally worthless.

Islam seems to lack forgiveness and grace.

I also think its degrading for women to have to cover themselves from head to toe because men refuse to control their lustful desires. It's like a Christian saying 'the devil made me do it' when it was their own free will. Muslim men can choose to treat women with respect for the way they are. Instead, they show a lack of trust to their wives and daughters, and their fellow men.

i think many that are islamic are true to the proper teachings. i have heard this from american muslims too. however, there are those that are not practicing the true form and thus.... just like in the US with other things - the negative gets the press. IF ALL muslim women were treated as you -not forced to be locked in their homes, made property, then it would be different.

I get the same treatment and I'm Pagan. My husband is an Atheist. Have you ever considered that some women DO want to go to the post office themselves? Or drive themselves places? Or open their own doors? etc... I can choose to live like a queen, or I can choose to do for myself. Oftentimes I do for myself because I enjoy my independence, exercise is good for me (washing the car or carrying boxes), and I enjoy accomplishing meaningful tasks, setting goals for myself, and feeling useful. So I hate to say it, but the reason you're making for converting doesn't sound like a good enough reason to me. I'll stick with my own Gods, thanks.
