I'm not trying to be rude,(for once),just realistic.I really and truly don't understand how most of you can really believe in imaginary things like angels, monsters, gods, heaven and hell,demons,etc..How can seemingly intelligent, well educated, otherwise rational people,(some of you anyway),think that these things are real.Seriously folks,c'mon.I know you don't want to die and have that be all there is.I know that you don't want to take responsibility for your evil actions and thoughts,etc..I understand that you all have the same psychological needs and mechanisms that I have, but you can't really, deep down, have truly deluded yourselves into buying into your own BS.Can you really be unaware of the psychology involved here? I think perhaps that most of you really are.Have you ever tried to understand why man invented gods? The many reasons he went to the monotheistic versions? Can there really be no help for you?

Get an education.
Pick up a psychology book.

ADDED:
A few of you asked me to explain little things like the origin of the universe, etc.,to prove,I suppose, that since I don't have the answer to these questions, that means that god exists and that I'm just way off base. How dare I suggest that believing in these things is ridiculous? (I DO believe in faeries,i DO,I DO!)
Anyway,so much for logic and reasoning.

You know, the real reason I always give the flock such a hard time is not because the whole thing is a lie. It's not that I just have a problem with any view that I don't happen to share.Mostly,it's because of the damage that religion has caused to the people and to the development of this planet. It has infected every facet of life here.Crusades,Inquisitions, jihad, violation of civil and human rights,wars,etc..It keeps us from becoming what we,as a species, could become. That's not to say that it will stop human evolution or civilization from being what it will eventually be.It just slows everything down a bit,for now.

I mean, every single day, people are dying because of one god or another.I have lost friends recently. My life is in danger every day that I am in Iraq.Scientists can't even do research that could save millions of lives and eventually wipe out all disease or affliction. Why? Because all the religious people tell all the religious lawmakers that it is wrong or against some imaginary god.Gay people aren't allowed to have the same rights as the rest of us in this country because your god says that it is wrong or evil for them to even love each other or exist, much less be together legally. Also, you people want to put your books and prayers into our public schools,so that our children can be conditioned to believe in all this krap.
I don't know when the human race will wake up from this nightmare you call god,but I am so glad to be secure in the knowledge that it will eventually.(My scope is a little longer and wider than yours.)

Religion is about ignorance, fear, intimidation, and control. It is for weak minded, scared, illogical people who need answers that they don't have.It divides people of all nations, even families. It is the only real evil here.It has been responsible for more deaths than any other cause on this planet including the plague. It keeps us from knowledge, from understanding, and from unity. We would be so much better off if we could get past it and on with trying to make this world a better place to live.
Here's to heaven. My heaven.A future time in human history where there is no more god.A time when all people can live together in peace, where none are sick, hungry, scared, mistreated,or at war.A perfect place with enough love for everyone. It will happen, but not until we get past a few things, religion being one of them.
Wish I was going to be alive to see it,but I probably won't make it another year.
Please, someone, take up the torch after I'm gone.Get us there...

Thank you, I didn't see your normal God hatred in this question. It was refreshing. Since you made your question sound real with intent on getting an answer even if you don't except it I will try to explain.
Arthur Conan Doyle for his character Sherlock Holmes wrote and I quote loosely.. "You solve a mystery by removing possibilities. What ever is left no matter how improbable is the truth.."
That leads me to chirality. Although two chemical molecules may appear to have the same elements and similar properties, they can still have different structures. When two molecules appear
identical and their structures differ only by being mirror images of each other, those molecules are said to have chirality. Your left and right hands illustrate chirality. When a random chemical reaction is used to prepare molecules having chirality, there is an equal opportunity to prepare the left-handed isomer as well as the right-handed isomer. It is a scientifically verifiable fact that a random chance process, which forms a chiral product, can only be a 50/50 mixture of the two optical isomers. There are no exceptions. Chirality is a property that only a few scientists would even recognize as a problem. The fact that chirality was missing
in those amino acids is not just a problem to be debated, it points to a catastrophic failure that "life" cannot come from chemicals by natural processes. If proteins and DNA were formed by chance, each and every one of the components would be a 50/50 mixture of the two optical isomers. This is not what we see in natural proteins or in natural DNA. How can a random chance natural process create proteins with thousands of "L" molecules, and then also create DNA with billions of "R" molecules? Does this sound like random chance or a product of design? Chirality is not just a major problem for evolution; it is a dilemma. It is this handedness that gives DNA the spiral shaped helical structure. If one molecule in the DNA structure had the wrong chirality, DNA would not exist in the double helix form, and DNA would not
function properly. The entire replication process would be derailed like a train on bad railroad tracks. In order for DNA evolution to work, billions of molecules within our body would have to be generated with the "R" configuration all at the
same time, without error. If it is impossible for one nucleotide to be formed with chirality, how much less likely would it be for billions of nucleotides to come together exactly at the same time, and all of them be formed with the same chirality? According to evolution, natural processes must explain everything over long periods of time. However, the process that forms chirality cannot be explained by natural science in any amount of time.
This is evidence straight from the labs of Science. The Bible has nothing to do with these facts. Yet the magnitude of the problem indicates that there WAS a creative force behind all life and that the spontaneous life generation that most scientist hold up as fact is at best far fetched and worst impossible..... Can you explain psychology? How do chemical reactions happen in your brain? Has science discovered how the brain works? Answer is no. They know what different parts of the brain do, but cannot explain how.

From a psychological perspective, answer these questions:
- Why do people think they are invincible, immortal, Superman-type beings?
- Why do people have to place an incredible amount of importance on a particular aspect of their lives, such as themselves, money, athletes, idols, to the point of worship?

We were created by God to worship Him.
We are living in eternity now; life doesn't end when you die. You can choose whether you go to heaven or hell. I don't know much about hell, but I know enough about heaven to want to go there.
God designed the human brain so that only He knows exactly how it works. He is Awesome, and we are so intricately designed.

God is more real than you and I. Without God, there would be nothing. We only exist because God wills it.
Angels and demons are real too. Ever heard of Multiple Personality Disorder, brought on by either trauma or drugs? There is another reason for MPD, Satanic Ritual Abuse. Demons are real, and there is proof. Have you seen the effects a ouija board can have on people? Some of the most famous psychics are possessed by numerous demons, that's how their voices and eye colour change.
Angels are real too. You know a lot of the survival stories around? It was either angels stepping, or Jesus himself, to protect those people so they can tell the world about what God has done for them.
Which brings me back to my strongest point.
We were designed by God for His Glory.

God wrote the book on psychology sir. (study of man's mind and body; He's got the owner's manual!) The Bible is the real truth. I overlooked all the blasphemies and railings against God and what stands out to me is your saying you may not be here another year and I'm wondering why? Why are you blaming your Maker at this time who sent His Son who willingly died so you might have all those things you desire in your heart in this life as well as in the life to come. This life is so short and eternity is FOREVER! You can live to see things through different eyes. Eyes that are spiritual, not carnal. Even if you've railed against God all your life, now that you feel you're nearing your life's journey (if I understood you correctly?) He would still take you into His loving arms and forget all your past. The only reason we love Him is because He first loved us and you are dying for lack of that pure holy true undying faithful love. Religion isn't to blame; sin is and the author of lies and confusion is satan who goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. It's not too late for the Shepherd to find you before you are completely devoured if only you'll call out to Him. You see, it isn't intellectual so much because God talks to the heart and even a fool (man without understanding, simple) can know God in intimate reality. This old time religion is worth living and dying for not anything else.

You're not trying to be rude? Could've fooled me. I mean, come on, you're starting off in attack mode. I'm guilty of bringing on the defense. So, let's throw away the set moods and talk rationally.

I look at it this way: If I die, and there is no God, I've lost nothing. Sure, I lived a lie, but it was what I truely believed. If this is all there is, then at least I will have lived my life to the best of my ability. However, if I die and there is a God, I will be judged accordingly. The same goes for everyone else. If you are wrong, you risk burning in Hell for eternity. Let's rate them: Persecution on Earth, rewards in Heaven, or nothing (if there is no God). Comfort on Earth, eternity in Hell, or nothing (if there is no God). What do you lose by living a meanigful life?

I have an education. I am just weeks from completing my batchelors degree. I, also, believe in GOD! My rationality for my belief IS based on what I see. I have heard many arguments regarding evolutionary theories, and they do not hold much water. Many simple questions that I have posed are answered with "given the right environment ..." or "It happened over millions of years ...", etc. These answers, are not at all satisfactory. I like the reasoning that forces people into making a decision either for the obvious or for the absurd.

I used to think like you and I understand where you're coming from. All I can say is I did my research and part of that involved reading the book "The Signature of God" by Grant Jeffrey. In this book I found scientific, historical, geographical & archaological evidence that the bible is 100% accurate. After asking Jesus into my life I have been transformed, power of suggestion you're thinking, well, 10 years later it's still sticking and I know better. Interesting how you don't believe these things but call yourself "Satan". Peace :-)

Yes, I have taken a psychology class and all of that - very interesting actually.

All I can say is that it all boils down to understanding that knowledge can be gained through more ways than just the scientific method. It's a great way to gain knowledge, but there's also more.

best wishes

If you really experianced the truth you would think other wise. You have created a box of thinking. You will always think you know what's truth until you have encountered something outside ur little box of thinking. Wisdom of the world is folly, God is a heck of a lot smarter than you.

I continue to believe in things I can't see because it makes sense. How can anyone believe that everything in the universe came from nothing? That makes absolutly no sense to me. All arguments trying to explain the origin of all things without God become unscientific.
