After reading all the posts, I think I've got....and to clarify this has nothing to do with Maturity, age or lack of manners.....Shoot it's always hard to keep good news Secret.

Why do you write a letter to your sister telling her how excited you are about finding out she's going to marry the man of her dreams. (or whatever applies) Put it a VERY SAFE place and maybe give it to her with a Congrats card, letting her know how hard of a secret it was to keep and you can't wait to share all the wonderful joy with her...sort of like...I'm going crazy cuz I saw you today and wanted to tell you.... I"m sure she'll get a kick out of it, and be appreciative of how hard it was for you to do this for her.

Dont spoil her surprise , this is her special time in life, you can really keep a secret. This is really between the 2 people concerned. Find something else to do, or go away till the day lolol, You can do this for the happy couple

Oh girl!!! LOL... you definetly don't want to ruin that kind of surprise for her. I know when you talk to her your gunna want to explode! You need to think of how happy and surprised she is going to be when she gets it tho! So.... tame the secret inside. Blab to your friends to keep it on the hush to... get it out of your system by tellin you best friend(s) over and over till the special moment!! Good luck!!!

(and keep me posted... Im curious to know what will happen!)

I know this situation is hard for you, cause it has happened to me, its not that you want to do it, its that we feel very happy for that person and we just can't wait until they know.
How I maintain my mouth close is that I try to remember that if I blab then people won't want to confide in me again. SO THIS HOLDS MY MOUTH CLOSED.
LUCK TO YOU I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT.

and when its your turn would you rather the surprise be the best it can be or second hand knowledge from your blabbermouth sister?
omg just make sure you have a camera ready for that moment when she tells you, that is unless she's to find out in front of you.

Just think about how upset your sister will be when you ruin her engagement this is (hopefully) a one time thing and think about how you want yours to be and think about not taking that away from her.

write it on a sheet of paper, rip it up, and dispose of it...you will have a feeling that you've already told someone (which you haven't) so you'll stop thinking "i'm going to blab" and you wont tell her

Try not to think about it.
Just think to yourself that if you blab, you would be ruining her surprise.
Would you like a surprise ruined?

Since most people dream about this happening to them, just think about how you would feel if someone spoiled the suprise to you before it happened. It takes the magic away from it...SHHHHH
