beliefs shaken by what they have read on this site? I'm sure most people have had their beliefs reinforced by what they find here...but that's no fun! Who has experienced a questioning of their beliefs???

I came here as an agnostic, I am now a full blown atheist.

Not because of this site that's for sure.
Sometimes I cannot believe what some people are willing to post, on their own free will, and with freedom of speech.
Sometimes it's laughable and sometimes I cry, seriously.
If someone has their beliefs shaken out here, it is not that strong to begin with.
One question in another section asked how many states there are in the USA and 4 out of ten said 51.
That could be considered a sampling.

Since I have no belief, there is nothing which could have been shaken. It is fun to read all the stuff here, but it seems that most of the writers are rather extremist representatives of their respective opinions. But maybe this seems only so, maybe it's just escalation between the several groups of god-believers and non-believers. I hope we can avoid religious wars with words here. I still try to listen whenever there is an original thought.

I haven't had my faith shaken by anything I've read on this site, but I have had to become much more clear about exactly what it is I believe and why. It's one thing to just state a belief, but this site has challenged me to explain my beliefs to people with backgrounds vastly different from mine. And yes, it certainly has brought up questions for me, mostly the "yeah, exactly why DOES the Catholic Church believe that?" kind.

I have. I used to be a "strong atheist" [I believed that there were no God(s)]. Now I consider myself a "weak atheist" (meaning I DOUBT the existence of God). I came to this realization because I realized that even though every single religion that incorporates a God makes the mistake of ascribing to him characteristics, words, and motivations that can not possibly be based on any real evidence and only assumptions, I can not therefore say that God(s) do not exist. It is certainly possible that a god(s) exist even though all of the organized religions that incorporate a god(s) into their beliefs are obviously making mistakes about assuming the nature of god(s)

I would say that a few individuals of the have been pretty scary. I had come to think of religion as relative to personal choice. Now, I question whether there is much cause to speak of belief to some who live in fear of the wrath of their vengeful creator. I prefer to choose my Goddesses more carefully, my Gods also.

I came on this site as a person who does not participate in organized religion but believes in a higher being; now due to this I question if I should be agnostic

Due to this site, I have at times questioned my belief that most Christians were decent human beings. I have come to realize that most probably still are, but those here do little to aid their cause.
