I think some of you need to travel more and see more than the back of your barns

I changed my views after I prayed and prayed for my dad to change and nothing happened. He never did. I understand where you are coming from. How can you preach to a rape victim or somebody like that about God? How do YOU think they would feel about God? Not too good. Oh and another thing---

God burn liberals in hell? Oh yeah. THat's loving. If I need Christian counseling, I'll definently go to you. That is so hypocritical. Another reason why I can't believe anymore. It's because of people like YOU who say they believe one thing and go do or say something that is the total opposite. You have to watch what you say, seriously. Quit abusing your right of free speech.

Change my views about what??? God....What does that have to do with my beliefs? My believing in God is not going to stop rapes, murders, and thieves. Maybe if more people had a spiritual life, we could eradicate some of these atrocities. These rapes and murders are choices that bad people make. It's called Sin. These things happen all over the world not just in Africa.
The only view that gets challenged when these things happen is my view of the human mind & spirit. What you need to focus on is why would someone committ these acts. In Africa and all over the world. Why does someone want to hurt someone else?

Why should a rape and murder in Africa be any worse--or "better"--than a rape and murder here?

I think I know what you're saying: that we relatively safe American Christians are ignorant of the sufferings of people in Africa, such as the rapes and murders as part of the current genocide in Darfur. You are right. I know little about the Darfur incidents, just as I knew little about what was happening in Rwanda or in the former Yugoslavia.

You're forgetting, though, that these days we have access to far more information than people of the past did, and that all this information is overwhelming. I for one can't do everything about every problem. I can, however, do some things about some problems.

The truth is no, I wouldn't change my views. Rape and murder are sins, and we as human beings have free will. We can choose to do those things. I'm not saying that they're right. I'm saying that its our choice, and we have to live with the consequences, whether we're the offender or the victim.

I've been raped, sexually abused and caught on camera. I have constantly thought about how good it would feel to eliminate the people who did that to me.
Then I met Jesus.
He showed me how to forgive those people for what they did to me. He is still continuing to heal my pain and emotional distress.

God allows things like that to happen so that His Will can be done. I am now in a situation where I can minister to people who have been raped, or gone through a teen pregnancy. I know what it's like, and I can show people how God cleaned up my life, and He can and will do the same for them, when they call on His Name, the Name of Jesus.

I think rape is deplorable and wonder what you have me change in that view.
I am aware of the plight of many nations in Africa. I read this one ladies story and they raped her and she miscarried and they killed and tortured her husband and then made her eat his flesh. Another of a woman who doesn't know if the baby she carries is her husbands or one of the many soldiers who raped her.
Are you talking about AIDS then clearly the rape victim is not being smitten by God. However I do not view AIDS as punishment from God. I think if anyone created it it was the devil or humans but not God.
It is beside the point though. Those people need help and I've been praying for them and telling people about the stories of the women that I read in hopes of stirring something positive up.

I'm not following the reasoning here. Bad things happen in the back of the barn too but God is still God. Here's a thought, if all people followed Christ, rape & murders would cease to exist. Peace :-)

I appreciate your concern for my knowledge. I have been to Africa, Malawi, to be exact. It is the third poorest country in the world. The average Malawian makes just over 200 dollars a year. I was there with Habitat for Humanity, building sanitary homes.

You should also know that Christianity is explosive in Africa and 60 percent of the worlds Christians live outside Europe and America.

Thanks again.
