Sounds a little obsessive to me but if you want to know for sure you should make yourself switch abruptly to something new when you find a pattern. If it stresses you out then you might have an issue. Everyone has preference and passions so if it's not hurting you or your career or anyone else it's really not a problem is it?

I suspect you do these things because (1) you get hooked on a song and want to hear it a lot because it is new, and (2) you eat the same thing a lot because you are a creature of habit. Although those things can be considered slightly obsessive, they are only compulsive if you feel you have to do this things or something bad will happen. OCD is like those folks who have to touch parking meters or lock and unlock doors a certain number of times before they can move on. The disorder part of OCD comes when the obsessions one is compelled to do interfere with their normal life. As you can well imagine, if you had to wash your hands 17 times before you could leave the house you would have a devil of a time simply living your life.

I really got a chuckle out of this. To be totally honest, you don't need a shrink for this. We are ALL obsessive-compulsive at times! I listen to songs on repeat ALL the time! I usually know what I want for dinner as soon as I walk into the restaurant! Typically the diagnosis of a mental illness isn't even a QUESTION unless it's something that interferes w/ normal, day-to-day functioning! So relax, and keep listening to your favorite song and enjoying your favorite meals :)

You could be but this can a symptom of other things. Perseveration is a word you could look up. Something affecting a certain area of your brain could be involved. But your life history could also be important such as a recent move or loss in your life or even older trauma so you are seeking a kind of security. Or are you searching for a life direction? Or are you having a power struggle with someone. So more questions than answers. Help through your doctor may be needed for diagnosis and treatment. A mental health clinic could also be helpful. Good luck!

That's normal. I am slightly OCD, and signs of this is doing things repetatively that you cannot help. It sounds like you listen to songs a lot probably because you like it. Someone with OCD would feel like they HAVE to listen to the song, to make things feel right. Or if you touch one hand, you have to touch another, or if you turn a doorknob one way, you have to turn it the other. That is OCD. An invoulentary feeling of needing to do something a certain way.

I think most people have a little obsessive compulsive disorder. If you do, it sounds like you get tired and can make a change. I have three things, that those who know me think I have OCD. I fold my dirty clothes. I have tried not to. I threw my night gown in the dirty clothes and for three days it bothered me so much that I had to dig it out and fold it. I fold candy wrappers. Now my grandson is folding his candy wrappers. The last one I consider normal enough. I use Clorox in my dish water and I make everyone wash their hands when they come to my house. Just to save getting sick so often. We are a strange lot. We all have our idiosyncrasies, don't we?

I personally do that often, however, an opinion posted in Yahoo Answers can't replace the diagnosis of a certified Mental Health professional. My advise, if you feel these obsessions are interfering with your daily life and your are bothered by it, seek professional help. Good Luck=)

no you are not obsessive compulsive. obsessive compulsive is when you have to a certain routine every time - like if every time you walk in the park you have to touch every fence post as you walk by it. Maybe you have to put all of the can goods in the pantry in alphabetical order or sort by size - larger to smaller.

No, none of that really fits Obsessive Compulsive tendencies. I'd assume you just like routine. If these are related to OCD though, they're very minor and nothing to worry about.

Ask yourself why you are doing those things over and over. Is it because you like the food and you like the song? Then you aren't OCD. Otherwise, if you are doing them compulsively or because you feel as if you HAVE to or there will be some unforeseen consequence, you might be OCD.
