Okay, Fact 1, Mary was born into the world completely free of original sin.
Fact 2,, This was due to God appling the future merits of Christ`s sacrifice on the cross and Resurrection to Her at Her conception.
Fact 3,, Mary due to this gift was then sinless for Her entire life.
Fact 4,, Mary was the most pure and innocent tabernacle of Christ as He dwelt in Her womb.
Fact 5,, Because of Her Immaculate Conception Mary is the one who crushes the head of the Serpent.

It was declared an official dogmatic teaching of the Roman Catholic Church on December 8, 1854 by Pope Pius XI.
It is one of the only two times the Pope has invoked Papal Infallibility (ex cathedra).
It states that Mary the mother of Jesus was born without the stain of original sin.
It has no direct basis in scripture.
It is most often mistaken for the virgin birth. (Jesus being born without Mary having had sex.)
Mary of the Immaculate Conception is the patroness of the United States of America.

1. The Immaculate Conception acctually refers to the conception of Mary; Catholics believe she was born without sin and that's why she was able to have Jesus.
2. Christians (other than Catholics) believe Christ is the only one born without sin, and assume the Conception refers to Him.
3. There is no historical fact to support either belief; other than the Gospel accounts. There was no genetic testing at the time, so it was anyone's guess who Jesus belonged to.
4. It is logical to believe Jesus, son of Mary, was the son of God, because only a miracle could've kept Mary from being stoned to death.

The immaculate conception is not in the bible and therfore is not true. It is something invented by the RC church to glorify Mary. She is not ever virgin because she gave birth to Jesus's half brothers and sisters. She deserves respect as the mother of Jesus, however, only God should be glorified. The assumption of Mary into heaven body and soul is also a fallacy and not in the bible.
Cheers and God bless!

I can give you one fact: The immaculate conception is a story and not a verifiable historical event. Therefore there are not 5 available facts about it but I will try anyway to give you a few:
1)People believe it happened even though there is no proof of it and even though it has never happened to anyone else throughout the history of the world
2)No one can say that it was "immaculate" and be making a statement based on facts or eyewitness testimony
3)There have been THOUSANDS of women and young girls throughout history that have become pregnant yet still deny that they ever had sex

The 'immaculate conception' is a Catholic myth about the birth of Mary. Their reasoning is that If Jesus was divine, them Mary could not have been worthy of delivering Jesus unless she was conceived the same way. This would make Mary also divine. Which makes her a goddess. Which drew a lot of pagans into the church many years ago that worshiped goddesses.
So, what's the bottom line- the 'immaculate conception' is a fabricated story-it never happened.

1) It's not the conception of Jesus as most of the previous answerers incorrectly stated, it's the conception of Mary in the womb of her mother.
2) According to the bible stories, God is not one of the parents, marys mother and father were both involved.
3) According to the bible stories, she was the first human ever concieved without sin
4) Catholics believe in it, many protestants do not
That's all I can think of.

I only know one FACT. It is a contrivance of Papal nonsense. Mary did not remain a virgin all her life. Jesus had siblings, and they were not her step children from Joseph's previous marriage. There is no hint of such a thing in Scripture of other early church writings.
