Take two Vitamin C tablets a day and drink lots of juice. This will help fend off anything. Oh and btw, I've seen take Zinc too. Don't take that WITH Vitamin C, a doctor told me once that they counterattack each other. Zinc is a good immune system builder to take on a regular basis, but when you feel a cold coming on, Vitamin C works better. That is what he said, and it's what I myself have found to be true. My husband has gotten colds and even laryngitis before, and as soon as I thought I might be getting it I started taking Vitamin C and drinking OJ and I didn't get it. Also, get plenty of rest.
Good luck.

This may not be the cure for the common cold but it makes me feel less dragged out and also less bummed out if I do get a cold:
St. John's wort and Ginseng
I don't know your body type or your weight so I couldn't say how many of each pill to take. If I feel a cold coming on I take 2 St. john's Wort and 1 Ginseng.
There used to be a thing called Harmonex on the market and that was what was in it.

At the first sign of a sniffle or sore throat, take zinc and vitamin C 4 times a day. Keep taking it for a couple of weeks even when you feel better. 15mg zinc and at least 100mg vit c per tablet. I find this more effective than antibiotics and I haven't had a bad cold for years now.

There is a couple of things you can try, i usually take vitamin c when i feel a cold coming on (mines usually start with a sore throat) or there is echinacea- a herbal product which boosts your immune system though it can only be taken for two weeks at a time, it should be readily available in all pharmacies. if you take any regular medication you can get the pharmacist to check its ok.

take garlic pills....I know the smell horrible but they work!(you can get the unscented ones) and take some vitamins...not sure which...so take multi vitamins I guess..not more than 4 a day...or whatever the box says....
for the garlic take 2 every 2 or 3 hours (read the container) and you'll be good in no time!
for me it took about 5 hours and I was cold free!

My personal remedy is lots of water and decaf green tea, plus I eat a clove of raw garlic each day for a few days. OK so the garlic is a bit intense for most, but I swear it works! You can also try garlic pills.
Zinc cough drops really help in the early stages of a cold as well.
And yes, of course lots of sleep and clear fluids. *smile* Feel better soon, and enjoy that vacation!

I have been told that airborne( you can buy at drugstores, nonprescription) is very good. However I just increase my vitamin C intake 500mg. every hour , for 4-5 hours. This usually does the trick. You can also drink chicken broth, juice etc. Force liquids into your body (tea is also very good) Wish you luck!!!

Cancel the vacation. You risk making everyone else sick if your illness is infectious. Any other course of action is selfish, as you risk buggering up other peoples fun, by giving them your cold. See a doctor, and take his advice, and stick with it.
