My boyfriend and I are looking to get our first ever tattoo and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advise. He wants a portrait style of St. Jude (like the one Kat Von D did on the 10/24/06 episode). Where do we find some good pictures to show the artist. This is especially important because neither one of us can draw to save our lives!

browse google images and try to find what you are looking for. or go the library and see if there are any good reference books with photographs in there. photocopy in black and white and see what you think. most copies also have the option of making the copy darker or lighter, so just make sure all the features are clearly defined so your artist has a crisp rendition to work with.
if you print something out from the internet, make sure it's a decent size! if it's a 100 x 100 pixel photo and you try to blow it up, it'll be all grainy and hard to see.
also make sure you find a REALLY good tattoo artist. trust me, not all artists are as talented as Kat, and they'll probably tell you they're better. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM! good tattoo artists will have a portfolio that you can browse. make sure you find one that is very comfortable with portraiture and black and white. not all of them can master this.

A good tattoo artist will take you ideas and pictures and draw proofs for you until you are happy. Start with internet searches and take a few ideas to your artist and go from there.

just google "tattoos", there are thousands of sites for individual shops and tattoo magazines. They all post their work on the sites, you are bound to find something you like.
you can also just head to the local tattoo parlor, they usually have books of pictures available on site.

there are tons of pictures on the internet and on prayer cards and in catholic churches of st. jude. just find the ones you like and bring them along.
