As an atheist, I find that I'm not nearly as irritated by Jews as some other faiths. I'm not saying that I agree with their beliefs...it's just that they don't seem to be very evangelical. They never come to my door with tracts and words of warning about hell. I never see them on TV hammering away at the "unsaved." They seem to kind of stick to their own and not concern themselves with converting others to their beliefs. There is seldom a scandal within their church. As far as "believers" go...I think they are not very intrusive into the lives of others. Does anyone else find these things generally true?

A Jew's goal is to bring peace on earth for all humanity. That goal is kept in mind at all times. There is very little focus on the afterlife and its rewards/punishments. There is no reason for anyone to convert to Judaism -- we can all work together to make this world a better place for all.

Being the "chosen" people means special "obligations," not special "rewards." Othodox Jews have more than 200 laws they must abide by. Anyone at all is welcome to convert to Judaism by vowing to keep those laws. Our God judges by what we do, not by what we believe!

I have also found this to be true. Jews has less of a missionary angle - they even traditionally refuse converts to Judaism three times before allowing them to officially convert, just to make sure they really want it and are serious about it!
Jews don't really believe in hell, so they're not as obsessed with sin and damnation as some Christians are. Orthodox Jews set a very high standard for how they live their life, and they prefer to stick to their own kind, but they aren't obsessed with being "holier-than-thou" usually.
Unfortunately Israeli Jews can be a whole other story - I see plenty of information that doesn't quite tell the whole story of the ongoing struggle there.

I have to let you in on a little secret.

while its true that Jews do not target non Jews. Many Jews to evangelise to other Jews. You just dont see it because its internal, but billions of $$$ have been spent in this direction for the last 50 years. Its never done in a door to door fashon but lets say you were a Jewish atheist. You would get invenations to meals, free trips to Israel, free courses in Jewish history and Judaism. And its only growing.

As a person on the inside it dose exist, but like I said its different than how Christians do it and your not the target.

Yes its generally true because Judaism is a totally non-evangelical religion. There are some bible bashing jews but they are basically "messianic" jews or Christians in disguise.
The same can also be said for most faiths in fact. Nothing against Christians but they seem to be uniquely aggressive about prostelytizing.

Is true. They keep to themselves, then again Jeshua the rabbi wanted to bring non -Jews to the religion and we are still debating it! That was the war of words between the rabbis and Jeshua, himself a member of the Essenes, we are stilll finding gospels hidden away in caves concerning the battle that got Rome involved and ended up in the famous words; I wash my hands on this!

They are just trying to dodge the next bomb or other hate crime. All the ones I have met have been nice as well but they do seem to inspire hate in people.
Anyway if I came to your door I would want you to know of God's love and His desire for you to know Him personally. I used to hate it when people condemned me to hell trying to convert me.
By the way even if you rejected God's love I wouldn't be mad or argue. I don't blame you for being put out with the judgmental people because I would too.

>>"it's just that they don't seem to be very evangelical."<<

its actually specified, that jews do not TRY to convert people. in fact if you want to convert you will be turned away several times.

oh, and Judaism doesn't have an eternal hell, and does not consider themselves exclusively correct.

with those in mind, the points your observing come quite naturally.

only in the most extreme orthodox areas is it signifigantly different... and thats only if non-observant people come into their areas in the wrong times.
