I am having a moral dilemma: Is it ok to go out on Christmas day? Why or why not? I want you to explain your view. Is it bad to make people work on Christmas day (examples are going to the movies, going out to eat, etc.) or do they like being paid overtime? I have thought about this a lot and thanks in advance for thoughtful answers!

This can apply to any holiday like Christmas; fourth of july, Hanukkah, whatever.

Don't worry about it...go out and enjoy your day. I understand your concern for those who have/chose to work, but most employers give the employee a choice. Or, they may not be Christians. Have fun and enjoy your day.

Merry Christmas!

I think this is so considerate of you.
I think that many businesses do have holiday pay, so probably the people are paid more for their Christmas work. Some of them will probably resent being scheduled on Christmas, but others might not.
What if you go out during the day, not the evening, so people have the evening to spend with their families if they (and their bosses) wish?

Well people are going to work whether a few people decide to go out or not. Most businesses are closed on big holidays such as Christmas, but those that aren't usually try to put emplyees in that don't mind working that day. I see no problem in it, and my family goes out to the movies nearly every Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's a a tradition.

I want to go out on Christmas day to see family and friends but I will have to cook 3 course meal with the trimmings and I want to have loads of time for my little girl on my own.

I can't do all 3,it's my Christmas too. Family and friends will have to wait till Christmas eve or boxing day.

That's life sweetie. I think most people know what they're getting into when they take a job that might require them to work holidays. It is their choice. Merry Christmas.!!

A MORAL DILEMMA about going outside? Without wishing to be rude or insulting, may I suggest you ask people to get you a life for a present?

They work, you don't. That's life. They had the same chances you did. You took them, you can afford to go out, they can't so they work.
