Why is it when people ask breeding questions on here some people have to go a rampage about statistics and start calling names. Really if someone wants to know length of gestation why not just tell them and let that be the end of it. I know that most of you have a passion for protecting animals and I agree with how you feel but instead of going off why not simply state your opinion and educate the asker. I am very curious as to what triggers these angry responses and want all viewpoints. All answers will be read thoroughly.

Because most of these people are not following breeding codes of ethics. Even tho they may not wish to show their dogs, fine, but at least invest the time and money to ensure the dogs are healthy and free of genetic defects. Pay for the xrays and eye certifications. Screen for any other defects that may be common to their breed. All too many people here just breed because they think AKC registration is good enuf reason to do so, when in reality, it's not enuf. Or they have friends that want a puppy like theirs, but truth is there are tons of pups like their in shelters everywhere, if they would take the time to look.

I agree some answerers are too harsh and need to learn to tone it down, but I do understand why they feel the way they do. It has a lot to do with knowing how many dogs die each year for no good reason but because their families discarded them. Every puppy that is bred will take away the possibility of one of these dogs finding a home.

I think if a person is following a proper code of ethics and even if not showing, still breeding for a good quality pet, this is acceptable, but the sad truth is that most aren't going to spend the money to have those health clearances, or find someone non-biased to determine if their dog is a good example of it's breed and therefore breeding quality. That's why people on here get so mad and mean. They're tired of the lack of education behind the breeding.

Well unfortunately some peole answer questions for thier own amusement or devilry. With stupid, rude, oblique or insulting answers. This covers the whole spectrum of questions.Sometimes such answers are warranted,as the question put is idiotic. However I think if a serious question is asked,,the least that an answerer can/should do is answer genuinely. To be honest I often doubt the intelligence of some the questions and why they'd ask such intimate details on this forum.I know there's a lot of minors asking sentimental questions Why a supposed adult would reply with rude vulgar answers. One in particular was a young girl of 13yrs asking "how to make a boy in her class notice her" It is beyond belief some of the replies. How an adult could lower themselves to give these rude suggestions However I digress, this forum for me is a good pasttime.Which I enjoy and devote too much time to.May I just add that in the main the answers are helpful, and that generally the information requested is supplied. Some fools put anything to gain two points.Regardless have a good Christmas

I try to give informed responses when aswering a breeding question. Too many people think breeding dogs is easy and a great way to make $$.

I was a breeder for several years before the cost to produce quality puppies just outweighed the benefit. I MAY start breeding again next year on a very limited basis. We are still in the medical tests stage of making sure our potential breeding stock (who are also show dogs, family pets and the stud is my service dog) is 100% sound. I already have people wanting pups from this breeding and it will be at least 8 months to a year before we breed.

What angers me is when people purposly create mutts so their children can see the miracle of life...how about you show them the "miracle" of reality and take them to the shelters and point out every dog that will die that day if it isn't adopted. Or people who just let their dogs run free and create puppies every 6-9 months. Irresponsible pet owners anger me, even if they don't breed their animals.

I believe that some of the people that answer rudely are forgetting that they had to start somewhere too. I believe everyone makes mistakes, no one is perfect. IF someone waited to long to have there girl fixed and she got pregnant they treat her like how dare you do such a horrible thing . Like they never made a mistake. Most people do learn from them . Even I once in my younger days made the mistake of not getting my female dog fixed and I put six more mutts into the world BUT, I also found them great homes and I even took two of them back and rehomed them when they were about 6 months old . I always told the owners that they could bring them back if ever they had too. Yes , I made a mistake but I took responsibility for it and don't assume someone is an idiot for making a mistake. I think if a person is trying to educate themselves whether it be on here or somewhere else at least they are trying. They have to start somewhere. and instead of being holier than thou we could get them going in the right direction . I understand getting frustrated at someone who has rediculous plans on breeding but if we are rude and treat them like jerks than they won't listen to a word we say. I say try to educate the people like they want but do it in a kind way that will actually get through to them . But there will always be a know it all, or so they think ,that has to make everyone else feel like crap for not being born with the knowledge they were! Sorry for rambling .

Because these uneducated BYB's are using YA as their research venue. If they really cared about their animals they would be on line with an education site like www.akc.org and get real advice. Instead they take the lazy way out and ask a bunch of ignorant Know nothings what they think. then they pick the stupidest answer that could only bring harm to their animals. They pick what they want to hear not whats best for the dog. We are trying to discourage armatures from breeding for the benefit of the animals. They jump in to breeding without knowing all of the complications that can arise and then later come on here begging us to help them when their dogs are in trouble. I could care less who breeds as long as they know what they are doing and the animals welfare comes before their pocket book or desire to replicate Fluffy. All people should be able to own pets that know how to take care of them. I try to answer sincere questions to those that really want to learn, just to go back later and have them pick some moronic answer that could harm the dog. It is frustrating and I feel SO bad for the dogs these morons own.

I really don't understand that either, to tell you the truth. However, there used to be a major trend on here where certain users would post obsene questions about animal abuse and cruelty - I know this b/c I basically got all my points on here from chewing them out. Animal lover/ protector right here!!!! On the other hand, as opposed to just letting someone breed their own animal to get a dog that they want, some people fly off the handle and order them to get a dog from the shelter - which by all means, I agree - but you shouldn't deprive people of what they clearly want and would take care of. That one I still am a little confused about. I haven't seen any angry comments on gestation periods, though....that's a new one.

I completely agree with you.... some questions are totally stupid, as can be their respective askers.... but when it's a sincere question, you can tell. as for the answers, it seems like most people are just out to get the points instead of answering the questions. It is so stupid.

as for gestation periods, I completely understand wanting to keep animals safe, and away from overpopulation, so you spay and neuter. but spaying and neutering isn't part of the question. the question is about gestation periods. so, just give the gestation periods. just because you read a question doesn't mean you have to answer it. if you don't know, just move on....

have a good day.... :)

Personally, it seems to be a bigger trend than just in this area. Ask about medications for ADHD, or whether to feed a baby solids at four or six months. The responses will indutiably hold some of that type.
I have found that I have gone off a time or two myself though, so odds of it happening on here, with lots of people are increased exponentially.
Finally, some ignorant people, who write a question just like you described people answering, should get blasted. Don't forget the ones trying to stir trouble cuz they're bored. lol.
Nice posting, btw.

Because anyone breeding dogs should not be on a general 'Q & A' website asking serious breeding questions - they should belong to their breed's club where they would be getting real, experienced advice from fellow REPUTABLE breeders. Just the fact they are on here asking such questions shows they are 'one more' backyard breeder - who knows nothing, but is breeding anyway. Look how many are on here asking these breeding questions every day - no wonder the shelters are full & have to euthanize healthy dogs! It is a shame, and when you truly love animals, it is heartbreaking.

So if we sometimes seem cranky, I hope you now understand why.

p.s. How can you read an answer like Zoe24's true life experience & not want to cry every time you see another breeding question?

hi there,
i think alot of people would like to ask them same thing. i thinks it's just that, thats theres that many unwanted animals these days that no one understands the extent of this really bad situation. many people not saying ALL PEOPLE don't get there aniamls desexed cause it cost to much money for people,

Then there aniaml get pregnant has there babies and try and get money for them and then all of a sudden no one wants them cause there are some many aniamls out there, they just give them away. And then most of them will end up at the pound.
If you don't hear about it then you don't know how BAD it is.

There are many people who breed responaible and there NOT reg breeder, and still do all the responsible things they should.

I'll give you a web site and everyone should have a look a this it explains it all.

http://sydneydogshome.org
and it's called SAD DAY FOR ANIMALS WITH NO VOICE

HOPE THIS HELPS MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE
